SENATOR BONACIC ANNOUNCES ORANGE COUNTY RESIDENT DR. JOYCE WILLETTS AS HIS 2015 NY SENATE WOMAN OF DISTINCTION

 

 (Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt.Hope) is pleased to announce that Dr. Joyce Willetts, PhD. of Florida, NY has been chosen as his 2015 NY Senate Woman of Distinction. The annual program honors women who have made exceptional contributions to their respective communities. Dr. Willets accomplishments were celebrated, along with those of the other honorees, at a ceremony in Albany on May 5th.

SENATOR BONACIC WELCOMES WEST POINT CADETS TO ALBANY AS NY SENATE CELEBRATES WEST POINT DAY

Senator Bonacic was pleased to welcome Cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point to Albany as part of the NY Senate’s 2015 West Point Day. Bonacic had the opportunity to speak with Cadet Christopher Whipple about his time at the Academy. Cadet Whipple resides in Neversink, NY and is set to graduate in 2015. Senior Academy personnel were also on hand, including the Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, Lieutenant General Robert Caslen. These Cadets are some of the best and brightest that this country has to offer, and West Point Day offers the State Legislature a chance to recognize them.

SENATOR BONACIC ATTENDS ANNUAL POLICE OFFICERS REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY IN ALBANY

Senator Bonacic joined members of the law enforcement community and other government officials today, to pay respect to New York police officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2014, at the Annual Police Officers Remembrance Ceremony in Albany. Last year alone, 16 New York police officers paid the ultimate sacrifice. Their names were among 27 inscribed on the Police Officers Memorial at today’s ceremony.

Senator Bonacic Honors Fallen Firefighters at Memorial Ceremony in Sullivan County

Senator Bonacic attended a solemn ceremony on Sunday remembering Sullivan County Firefighters who passed away in 2014. The 56th Annual Firefighters Memorial Ceremony is a heartfelt occasion that allows members of the community to recognize those firefighters who have answered the long last alarm during the preceding year.

Senator Bonacic Attends Forestburgh Fire Company's Pancake Breakfast

Senator Bonacic shared a delicious pancake breakfast with members of the community this past Sunday at the Forestburgh Fire Company’s Pancake Breakfast. Normally, the men and women of the fire company wear fire gear, but on Sunday they traded in their fire equipment for aprons and spatulas and cooked up a tasty pancake breakfast for everyone in attendance. Senator Bonacic is pictured with members of the Forestburgh Fire Company at their Pancake Breakfast on Sunday.

SENATOR BONACIC ANNOUNCES PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO PROTECT STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE STATE SCHOLARSHIPS

(Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the Senate has passed Senate Bill S1370, which he sponsored. This legislation would ensure that students who receive certain state scholarships would not see their scholarship award reduced for choosing to live off-campus. SENATOR BONACIC GREETS MEDICAL STUDENTS FROM TOURO COLLEGE OF MIDDLETOWN

Senator Bonacic  was pleased to meet and speak with medical students from Touro College’s Middletown Campus today in Albany. The students were in Albany as part of the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society’s lobby day. The Middletown campus opened its doors to students in August of 2014 and trains those students in a holistic approach to the practice of medicine. With several major hospitals surrounding the college, Touro students are well positioned to continue their work serving the residents on the Hudson Valley after they graduate.

SENATOR BONACIC MEETS WITH NYS RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION

Senator Bonacic  met with members of the New York State Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NYSRECA) today in Albany, as part of NYSRECA’s lobby day. Among those in attendance at the meeting were representatives from the Delaware County Electric Co-op. An electric co-op provides essential services to rural communities, like those in Delaware County, and supply low cost reliable energy to their customers.

Bonacic attended the Bloomingburg Fire Company’s Annual Installation and 80th Anniversary Dinner Dance, and presented certificates to members of the company to honor their service. The function served as a thank you to the firefighters, and a reminder of the critical role that volunteer fire companies have in our community.

BONACIC ATTENDS GROUND BREAKING AT PILLER USA, INC'S NEW FACILITY IN THE TOWN OF WALLKILL

Senator Bonacic joined local business leaders and elected officials this morning for a chilly, but enthusiastic ground breaking ceremony for Piller USA, Inc’s new facility in the Town of Wallkill. Currently, Piller operates a facility in the Town, but this new location will help better serve the needs of their customers and the employees of the company. Piller is a global electric equipment manufacturer, and the Town of Wallkill is their only location in the United States.

BONACIC ATTENDS ANNUAL DONOR RECEPTION FOR ORANGE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

Senator  Bonacic was pleased to join friends and neighbors at the Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC) Foundation’s Annual Donor Reception held at The Fountains at Wallkill Golf Club in the Town of Wallkill on April 23. The annual reception is held every year as a way to celebrate those who have contributed financial resources to help make ORMC a state of the art medical facility, and an economic driver for the Hudson Valley region.
