BONACIC: LEGISLATION TO INCREASE SAFETY AND SECURITY AT ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FACILITIES PASSES SENATE

The New York State Senate today passed legislation, S.3349 by Senator Bonacic, which would increase the safety and security at alcohol and substance abuse treatment facilities that are utilized for judicial diversion programs.

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope) was inspired to sponsor this amendment to the criminal procedure law when a security guard; Lee Wood was killed and a nurse; Keri Reynolds was stabbed at the Renaissance Project; a substance abuse treatment facility outside of Ellenville, NY by a felon with a history of violence who was being treated at the facility.

BONACIC: THE SENATE PASSES GOVERNOR’S ETHICS BILL

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope), today stated that the Senate passed the ethics reform legislation announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.

Charles A. Eustis

World War II Veteran, Charles A. Eustis, 88, was living in Pittsburgh, PA in November of 1942 when he was drafted. His first active duty date was December 7, 1942. Charles, and three of his brothers served in Europe, he was in the Army Infantry and faced combat during his time there.

Charles served in the 1st Battalion HQ Co 376 Infantry 94th Division. He trained in Camp Phillips, Kansas; Maneuvers in Tennessee, Camp McCain in Elliott, Mississippi; Camp Shanks in the Town of Orangetown, NY and then spent 13 months in the European Theater of Operations. He was discharged after 2 years and 11 months.

SENATOR BONACIC HONORS EXCEPTIONAL LIVINGSTON MANOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT HIS ANNUAL “EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION” EVENT

On June 2, 2011 Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I- Mt. Hope) honored high school valedictorians, salutatorians and students who have made significant contributions to their schools and communities from over 30 school districts in the 42nd  Senate District in an all day event at the Capitol in Albany.
