On Friday, October 26, United States District Court Judge Thomas McAvoy dismissed a lawsuit filed by New York Regional Interconnect (NYRI) against State Senator John Bonacic and Binghamton area Assemblywoman Donna LuPardo. Bonacic and LuPardo sponsored legislation to stop NYRI and similar companies from using eminent domain under State law.
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) and four of his Senate colleagues, sent a letter stating their strong opposition to the Metropolitan Transit’s Authority’s (MTA) plans to substantially increase fares and tolls.
Senator Stephen Saland, Senator William Larkin, Senator Vincent Leibell, and Senator Thomas Morahan signed on to the letter to Chairman H. Dale Hemmerdinger.
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) attended SUNY New Paltz’ Pasternak Trading Room Dedication ceremony at van den Berg Hall on October 19, 2007. State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new senior housing complex on the campus of the Ellenville Regional Hospital. Senator Bonacic joined officials from the hospital and Warwick Properties, Inc.

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) attended the Sullivan County POW/MIA Remembrance Day ceremony at the Sullivan County Government Center on Friday, September 21st. The event was hosted by the Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency.
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) was one of the speakers joining officials from Benedictine Hospital, The Kingston Hospital, Margaretville Hospital, as well as Commissioner Dr. Richard Daines announcing the creation of Health Alliance Planning, Inc. It is a not-for-profit parent corporation that will guide the hospitals as they move further toward realignment. The hospitals will receive $47.6 million to complete their affiliation.

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) attended the ribbon cutting festivities marking the opening of the Frontier Tech Lab at SUNY Orange’s Middletown campus. It is a new, state-of-the-art laboratory designed with the help of Frontier. The lab created in partnership between the College and Frontier boasts the latest telecommunications equipment available connecting 20 desktop computers in the lab. Across the country, it is well known that the issue of adjustable and "sub-prime" mortgages has become an issue for people who bought homes during the real estate boom, only to now face the reality of radically adjusting interest rates. For that reason, legislation (S.3965a/A.8799) sponsored by State Senator John Bonacic, and recently signed into law by Governor Spitzer, will provide up to $100 million to refinance some of those homes into a more conventional mortgage structure.

Governor Spitzer’s top economic development representative - Empire State Development Chairman Patrick Foye and State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope), met with local officials and visited key properties in Ulster County yesterday. Foye is the "downstate" Chairman of Empire State Development. Ulster County falls into the "downstate" region. Governor Spitzer has split economic development by region and has a separate Chairman for the upstate New York area.
Bonacic and Foye visited business facilities in Ellenville and also in the Town of Ulster.

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) attended Sullivan Renaissance Annual Award ceremony at Bethel Woods on August 13th. The Senator secured $75,000 for Sullivan Renaissance and presented the Silver Feather Award to Wurtsboro Renaissance for their community development plans.
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope), Chairman of the Senate Housing Committee today announced multiple grants for housing and community development in Ulster, Orange, Delaware, and Sullivan Counties. Two projects in Ellenville will receive substantial assistance.
Ellenville Senior Housing, which Ellenville Regional Hospital is a partner in, will receive funding to build a more than $10 million senior citizen housing complex adjacent to the hospital.

The Museum is located on Route 209 in Marbletown and is opened from May 17th through October 29th. The Monument was moved from a location that was too close to a highway to a safer, quieter place. State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope), in light of reports that the MTA is considering increasing fares, is calling upon the Assembly leadership to pass his legislation, Senate bill 461. The measure requires the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to hold public hearings to justify any proposal to increase rates.
"The public and the users of the services provided by the MTA have a right to know how their hard earned dollars are being spent," stated Senator Bonacic.
