Bonacic Secures $500,000 For Ymca

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that he has secured $500,000 in State Capital funding to assist in the creation of a YMCA Sullivan County branch. The YMCA has also received a commitment of 12 acres from RH Land Development, LLC where the facility will be located. Residents and local developers have also pledged additional financial support.

Gerry Foundation & Bonacic Announce $5 Million+ Emergency Room Renovation

Alan Gerry and State Senator John J. Bonacic, today announced a combined State and Private partnership which will see more than $5 million invested in Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Emergency room to completely renovate and upgrade the facility.

"Nearly every family in Sullivan County, at some time will come to this Emergency Room in crisis. Sullivan County is a growing County and people need a state of the art emergency room," Senator Bonacic said.

Bonacic Expresses Opposition To Commuter Tax

Bonacic Speaks At Ulster MHA’s Eating Disorders Coalition Conference

Bonacic (R/I/C – Mount Hope) presented the opening remarks at Ulster County Mental Health Association’s  Eating Disorders Coalition Conference held at the Holiday Inn, Kingston today.  The Conference was entitled “Building Teams Better Treatment” and provided attendees with professional training on various Eating Disorders.  Senator Bonacic provided the Coalition with State aid for its education and training program.

Senate Will Vote Again On Property Tax Reform

State Senator John Bonacic (Mount Hope) urged the State Assembly to join the Senate in this Friday’s session the Senate has called on property tax reform. Despite the fact that the Republican led Senate has voted three years in a row on property tax reform, the Democrat dominated Assembly has refused to vote even once to reform New York’s broken school property tax system.

Senate Passes Bill To Eliminate School Property Tax

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that the Senate has again passed property tax reform legislation which would allow for the elimination of the property tax homeowners pay to operate local school districts. The State would make up the extra cost using existing tax revenue.

Senate Approves Bill To Ban Texting While Driving

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) voted in favor of legislation that prohibits drivers from sending text messages while driving. The bill, S.3195-C, amends the law banning cell phone use while driving by prohibiting drivers from writing, sending, or reading text messages on a cell phone or any other mobile device.

Bonacic: Senate Puts Forth Bill To Suspend Gasoline Tax

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced that he plans to vote in favor of legislation that eliminates New York State’s gasoline taxes during the summer travel season. Senate bill 7594-A calls for the elimination of the tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

"If the State, federal, and local governments all temporarily suspended its taxes, New Yorkers would save 65 cents per gallon at the pump," stated Senator Bonacic. "Any amount of savings is important, especially during difficult economic times."

Bonacic: State Budget Includes Over $60 Million For Suny New Paltz

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that the final State Budget includes over $60 million in State Capital Aid for two projects at SUNY New Paltz. Projects being funded include renovations to the library and the construction of a new science building.
