Bonacic Secures State Aid For Hospitals In Delaware County

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that the Legislature has agreed to a health spending plan that includes $400,000 in funding for hospitals in Delaware County. Delaware Valley Hospital and Margaretville Hospital will each receive $200,000.

Bonacic Secures State Aid For Middletown Police

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today at the Middletown Police headquarters that he has secured $50,000 in Senate Initiative Funding for the Middletown Police Department. The aid will be used to purchase additional surveillance cameras, as well as putting more police officers in downtown neighborhoods during the weekend.

Bonacic: Third Dam Safety Bill Passes Senate

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that his legislation, Senate bill 6417-A, which is the third measure in a series of legislative remedies relating to dam safety, was unanimously approved in the Senate today. The Assembly approved the bill today as well.The bill would require information on intermediate and high hazard dams around the State be given to local officials.

Bonacic Works To Resolve School Districts' Aid Shortfall

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C- Mount Hope) has introduced legislation to allow the Sullivan West School District and the Tri-Valley School District to be reimbursed for transportation expenses incurred during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 school years. Due to an error on the part of both school districts, the respective transportation contracts were not approved by the Department of Education for reimbursement.

State Senator John J. Flood Control Bill Passes Senate

In an unprecedented challenge to New York City's management of its upstate reservoir system, the New York State Senate yesterday passed legislation (S.1768-a), by State Senator John Bonacic (R/I/C - Mt. Hope) and Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I- Mildord), which would mandate a draw down of the City's reservoir system in anticipation of water inflow from rain or melting snow. The bill would apply to the six City reservoirs West of the Hudson River.

Bonacic Bill Gains Support In The Assembly

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) said today that his legislation, Senate bill 6521, was introduced in the Assembly by Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski on February 1st.

The measure prohibits the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) from implementing rate increases, surcharges, fees, or other costs to passengers or for those who work at facilities owned and operated by the MTA public hearings within the county impacted."This is a common sense initiative that addresses the needs of New York's commuters and focuses on accountability.

Bonacic today released a letter he has written to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Department of Environmental Conservation on the reservoirs operated by Mirant in Sullivan County."It appears that Mirant is getting ready to walk away from its Swinging Bridge and possibly other reservoirs, leaving Sullivan County residents low and dry," Bonacic said - speaking of the lowered Swinging Bridge reservoir and the other reservoirs in Mirant’s area.

New York Senate Passes Statewide Gps Monitoring Of Sex

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) today announced that his legislative proposal, Senate bill 4656B, was approved by the Senate. Bonacic’s legislation amends the correction law to require that all level three sex offenders, who are most likely to repeat their crime, be continuously monitored as to their location and makes it a crime to violate the monitoring provision.
