Senator Bonacic Attends the New York Emergency Medical Services Memorial Dedication Ceremony

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) attended the New York State Emergency Medical Services Memorial Dedication Ceremony.  The memorial honors emergency medical workers who have died in the line of duty.  This year Eric Monty of Champlain EMS and David G. Restuccio of Staten Island University Hospital were honored.  Since Senator Bonacic helped start the memorial in 2004, forty-four emergency medical workers have been memorialized.  Senator Bonacic is pictured above with Warwick emergency medical workers, Frank Cassanite and Jo Ann Cheney, in front of the Tree of Life dedicated to fallen EMS workers.

SENATOR BONACIC WELCOMES RICHARD KEISER INTO THE NEW YORK STATE VETERANS HALL OF FAME

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) honored the induction of Richard Keiser to the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame.  Mr. Keiser served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, and acheived the rank of Sergeant.  He was wounded at the Battle of Hamburger Hill in May 1969.  Professionally, he served as an Orangetown Police Detective for 33 years and is a member of various veterans' and community organizations.  We are grateful for Mr. Keiser's service to his community and country.

SENATOR BONACIC ANNOUNCES THE SENATE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO ENHANCE SAFETY IN SCHOOL ZONES

     Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced that the New York State Senate has passed legislation to enhance the safety of students and parents in school zones.

     The legislation (S3528) would enhance safety for students within a school zone by preventing drivers from making U turns within the posted hours that the school zone is in effect.

SENATE APPROVES EXPANSION OF SENATOR BONACIC SPONSORED LEGISLATION THAT BANNED DROP-SIDE CRIBS IN NEW YORK STATE

Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I- Mt. Hope) announced that the New York State Senate recently passed legislation to strengthen New York State’s ban on dangerous drop-side cribs. If passed by the Assembly, the legislation would expand the state’s existing drop-side crib ban to prohibit them from being used at child-care facilities and other places of public accommodation.

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, Senator John J. Bonacic attended the United Way of Sullivan County's 30th Anniversary Celebration held at Bernie's Holiday Restaurant in Rock Hill, N.Y. Senator Bonacic presented honoree, Eileen Ernst, with a New York State Senate Resolution upon her recognition as the Volunteer Extraordinaire by the United Way of Sullivan County.

On May 7, 2013, Ms. Benson was honored in the Capitol as one of the 2013 New York State Women of Distinction.  Ms. Benson's devotion to Orange County throughout her life and her career is impressive.  She has made an impact on the lives of so many through her community involvement, particularly through her leadership in so many community organizations. Ms. Benson's commitment to Orange County is also demonstrated through her career in public service. Ms. Benson has been the Orange County Clerk since 1998.
