Senator Flanagan Honored For Efforts To Help Expand Kings Park Fire Department

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) was recently honored by the Kings Park Fire District’s Board of Fire Commissioners for his efforts in getting the state to transfer a parcel of land on the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center property to the Kings Park Fire District (KPFD).

The transfer, which was sponsored by Senator Flanagan and Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick (7th Assembly District) in their respective houses of the legislature and signed into law on August 26TH, will enable the fire district to build a substation at the site and provide better service the Kings Park residents.

Senator Flanagan Helps Residents Get Prepared

In an effort to help residents prepare for emergencies, Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined with a number of public agencies to host three community preparedness seminars.  The three seminars, which offered residents helpful tips and information, were held at the Kings Park Fire Department, the Lake Ronkonkoma Fire Department and the Half Hollow Hills Library in Dix Hills.

Senator Flanagan Gains Passage Of Extention Of Alternative Energy Tax Exemption

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently announced that legislation he sponsored to extend tax relief for alternative-energy homeowners has passed both the Senate and the Assembly.  The legislation, which now is awaiting Governor David Paterson’s signature, will extend local tax exemptions for environmentally-friendly homeowners who install energy-efficient systems on their homes.

Senator Flanagan Fights To Enact Property Tax Cap and Provide Tax Relief For Middle Class Taxpayers

In order to provide middle-class taxpayers across the State with relief from soaring property taxes, Senator Flanagan worked with members of the Senate Republican delegation to put forward an amendment to a budget extender that would provide relief to Long Island’s property taxpayers.

Unfortunately, Senate Democrats unanimously voted down the Republican-sponsored amendment that would have enacted a property tax cap, prevented school districts from raising local tax levies this year, and provided middle-class taxpayers across the State with relief from soaring property taxes.

Senator Flanagan Meets With Kings Park Scouts

Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently hosted Charles and Colin Tekverk, who are both members of Boy Scout Troop 75 of Kings Park as part of their efforts to achieve the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge.  The meeting with Senator Flanagan helped the boys satisfy one of the requirements of the badge as they strive to become Eagle Scouts.
