Senator Flanagan Reminds Homeowners To Apply For STAR Program Before March 1st Deadline

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is urging all homeowners in Suffolk County to remember to register for the School Tax Relief (STAR) program prior to the upcoming March 1ST deadline.  Homeowners who have not yet signed up for the STAR program are able to sign up until March 1st through their local assessor’s office to take advantage of this program.

Senator Flanagan Reminds Homeowners To Apply For STAR Program

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is reminding all homeowners that the deadline to apply for the School Tax Relief (STAR) program is March 1st.  Homeowners who are not enrolled in this property tax savings program can apply with their town assessor’s office prior to the deadline.

The STAR program provides homeowners with property tax relief and works in two ways:• Basic STAR is available to homeowners whose primary residence is a house, condominium, cooperative apartment, mobile home or farm house and whose combined total adjusted gross income does not exceed $500,000, regardless of age.  It does not require annual renewal.

STAR Re-Registration Assistance Event

According to state officials, more than 175,000 homeowners on Long Island have yet to re-register for their Basic STAR tax exemption, with the deadline of December 31st approaching.  To assist those who need additional help, state employees will be at the Perry Duryea State Office Building, located at 250 Veterans Highway in Hauppauge, from 9 am to 5 pm today through Friday to help homeowners re-register for Ba
