Senator Flanagan Honors Dix Hills Breast Cancer Leader As His 2011 Woman Of Distinction

At a recent ceremony in Albany, Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) hosted Ms. JoAnn Pushkin to officially recognize her selection as his 2011 Woman of Distinction.  The Dix Hills resident was honored for her efforts to expand access to early breast cancer detection for the 40% of women who have dense breast tissue.  Ms.


Senator Flanagan Supports Women’s Equality Package

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) this week joined with his colleagues in the State Senate and voted in favor of the measures that complete the nine-part New York State Senate’s Women’s Equality Agenda.  The legislation approved this week would stop sexual harassment at work, allow for the recovery of attorney’s fees by victims of gender discrimination, and enable domestic violence victims to obtain orders of protection electronically.

            Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) joined with his fellow members of the Senate Republican Conference and the Senate Independent Democratic Conference to approve a comprehensive Women’s Equality Agenda that would enhance the rights of women and protect those who are most vulnerable to abuse and discrimination.


Join The Women's Equality Campaign In New York State

     Recently, the New York State Assembly took action on components of the Senate's Women’s Equality Agenda which the Senate passed back in January.  This eight-point plan that takes steps to protect the rights of New York women at work and at home and it is important that every component be voted on and approved by the Assembly.
