Through this effort, the organization is working to collect pet supplies to stock Baxter’s Pet Panty to help ensure all Long Island families are able to care for their pets.
Baxter’s Pet Pantry was created by Long Island Cares in 2009, in partnership with the Animal Relief Fund Inc. (ARF), to help pet-owning families throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties get the supplies they need. In addition to providing pet food, the Pet Pantry offers toys, pet clothes and other supplies to Long Island families.

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) has announced that his office is joining with ReesSpecht LIFE and Family Service League for a special Toy Drive during the upcoming holiday season. Project TOY (Treasure Our Youth) will help local families in need have a happy holiday season.

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that his office has secured $10,000 in state funding for the Commack Public Library as part of the 2014-15 State budget. The funding will be used by the library to offset the cost of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) program.
The library will use funding secured by Senator Flanagan to purchase AED equipment as well as to obtain a special cabinet that will house the lifesaving device. The funding will also be used to support the training of library staff so that any patron who suffers a cardiac emergency will be assisted as quickly as possible.
Legislation sponsored by Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) that will provide relief to students who struggle with respiratory diseases or diabetes has been signed into law. The new law permits students who utilize an inhaler or other prescribed equipment or medication to carry and use these devices in school and at school functions.
Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently welcomed Miss New York Junior Teen Hailey Germano to his office in Smithtown. Ms. Germano, who is in her first year at Smithtown West High School, was crowned in August and will be heading to Orlando in November to represent New York State in the Miss America Junior Teen pageant.
“It was great to meet Hailey during our recent visit. She is a great representative for our community and she will make our entire state proud. I wish her all the best in the upcoming pageant in Orlando,” stated Senator Flanagan.
