Senator Flanagan Sponsors Elimination Of Unfair E-zpass Surcharge

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District), a member of the Senate Transportation Committee, today announced that legislation he sponsored to protect drivers from an unfair E-ZPass surcharge has passed the New York State Senate. The legislation, which would prohibit all agencies who administer the E-ZPass program from charging any monthly fee, was sent to the New York State Assembly for further action."The idea that Long Island drivers are being assessed a one dollar charge per month just for having an E-ZPass account is unfair.

The funding will offset the cost of the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for the organization’s gallery home.The automated external defibrillator (AED) is a computerized medical device that is able to check a person’s heart rhythm.

Senator Flanagan Welcomes Commack Student To His Albany Office

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently welcomed Commack resident and Farmingdale State University senior Jordan Henner to his Albany office staff. Mr. Henner will spend the entire spring semester in Senator Flanagan's Albany office working in the Senate Session Assistant Program.As a Management Technology major, Mr. Henner will utilize his time in the State Capital researching issues, working with constituents and tracking the progress of legislation. For his efforts, he will earn 15 credits towards his degree, which he is scheduled to complete in May.

The 25-point plan has passed the Senate and follows the successful agreement on lifetime registration that was signed into law in January. Senator Flanagan Announces Home Heating Assistance

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District), a member of the Senate Aging Committee, announced an agreement to provide an additional $100 million in emergency state funding for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The state funding will supplement the federally funded 2005-2006 HEAP program to ensure that eligible seniors and low-income New Yorkers are able to afford to heat their homes throughout the remainder of this winter.Senator Flanagan announced that this amount represents an additional $50 million in emergency aid added by the legislature.
