Senator Flanagan Supports USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is once again supporting the National Association of Letter Carrier's (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.  This year’s effort to assist those in need in our community will be held on Saturday, May 9th.  During the event, letter carriers in our communities will collect food along their normal route to help restock area food banks, pantries and shelters.

Senator Flanagan Joins With Senator Croci To Pass Legislation Targeting Cyber Terrorism

            Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined with Senator Tom Croci (3rd Senate District) to sponsor four bills that would crack down on cyber terrorism and its rapidly expanding threat to the state’s security and finances.  The legislation would enact tougher penalties for cyber-related crimes, create cyber security programs to identify potential risks and threats and require the state to perform a comprehensive review of all its cyber security measures every five years.

Senator Flanagan Supports Tougher Penalties For Sex Offenders

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) joined with his colleagues in the New York State Senate Majority to pass a package of legislation, including a bill that he sponsored, that would help keep communities safer from sexual predators.  These seven bills would help prevent the most dangerous offenders from having contact with children and college students, require more stringent residency reporting requirements for the sex offender registry, strengthen penalties for those who help sex offenders evade registration requirements, and

Organ, Eye And Tissue Donor Information

More than 10,000 New Yorkers are on waiting lists as the need for  donations far exceeds the supply.  One person who donates organs (heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and intestines) can save up to eight lives, while a tissue donor (corneas, bone, skin, heart valves, tendons, veins, etc.) can improve 12 or more lives by restoring eyesight, helping fight infections in burn patients and preventing the loss of mobility and disability.

Join The Fight To Protect New York Families

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) and Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota recently joined victims' families to call for the enactment of stronger penalties against hit-and-run drivers who kill or cause serious physical injuries to others.

Smithtown Library Utilizes Funding Secured By Senator Flanagan

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that his office has secured $10,000 in state funding for The Smithtown Library as part of the 2014-15 State budget.  The funding will help offset the cost of the purchase of a new carpet cleaner for the library.

The new Tennant 1610 Dual Technology Carpet Extractor is a deep cleaning system that will protect the carpeting in the library from wear and tear.  The purchase of this new machine will protect the investment of the taxpayers and the quality of the buildings, all of which recently underwent significant renovations.

Senator Flanagan Works With Kings Park School District To Benefit Students

Senator John Flanagan( 2nd Senate District) recently announced that his office has secured funding for the Kings Park Central School District.  The funding, which is the result of Senator Flanagan’s ongoing efforts to provide additional opportunities to Kings Park students, will help enhance the overall educational experience at all of the schools in the district.

Over the past four years, Senator Flanagan has secured close to $300,000 in state funding, beyond traditional school aid, that the district has used to offset the cost of a number of projects.
