Join The Fight To Protect New York Families

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) and Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota recently joined victims' families to call for the enactment of stronger penalties against hit-and-run drivers who kill or cause serious physical injuries to others.

Smithtown Library Utilizes Funding Secured By Senator Flanagan

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that his office has secured $10,000 in state funding for The Smithtown Library as part of the 2014-15 State budget.  The funding will help offset the cost of the purchase of a new carpet cleaner for the library.

The new Tennant 1610 Dual Technology Carpet Extractor is a deep cleaning system that will protect the carpeting in the library from wear and tear.  The purchase of this new machine will protect the investment of the taxpayers and the quality of the buildings, all of which recently underwent significant renovations.

Senator Flanagan Works With Kings Park School District To Benefit Students

Senator John Flanagan( 2nd Senate District) recently announced that his office has secured funding for the Kings Park Central School District.  The funding, which is the result of Senator Flanagan’s ongoing efforts to provide additional opportunities to Kings Park students, will help enhance the overall educational experience at all of the schools in the district.

Over the past four years, Senator Flanagan has secured close to $300,000 in state funding, beyond traditional school aid, that the district has used to offset the cost of a number of projects.

Join The Effort To Stop The "New York Is Home" Legislation

Recently, Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) joined with his Senate Republican colleagues to voice their opposition to the Senate Democrats’ plan to provide rights and benefits to illegal immigrants.

The plan would provide those who live in the state illegally with, among other things, the right to vote, the right to hold office, the ability to obtain a driver’s license and immediate access to financial benefits.

Senators Flanagan and Boyle Assist in Reinstatement of Grant to Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc.

On September 15, Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC), was joined by New York State Senators Phil Boyle and John Flanagan, ADRC clients and their families and caregivers to announce that the organization has had its grant from the New York State Department of Health restored. The money would be used to continue providing its programs and services: care and consultation; support groups; and educational programs.

Senator Flanagan Reads To Young Students At Stony Brook University’s Freedom School

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently visited the Stony Brook University’s Freedom School to read with the children who participate in the summer enrichment program. The motivational project, which was the first of its kind on Long Island, is designed to generate positive attitudes toward learning. 

Senator Flanagan was invited to join the children by Dr. Charles Robbins, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the Undergraduate Colleges.
