Dennis Michael Sullivan

Dennis Michael Sullivan served as an alcohol and drug counselor with the United States Army HHC Company Division Headquarters, 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. His rank was E-4 and he is the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.Mr. Sullivan is a Life Member and Past Post Commander of VFW Post 4927 in Centereach and also served as the Suffolk County Council Commander.

Senator Flanagan: Washington Leaders Must Protect New York Taxpayers

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is calling on congressional leaders to reject the “Double-Tax Plan” included in a federal budget proposal that would end the longstanding policy allowing taxpayers to deduct their state and local tax liability, including property taxes, from their federal taxes.  If approved by Congress and signed into law, this change would cost the average Long Island homeowner approximately $4,500 a year.

Senator Flanagan Announces Tax Relief For Businesses and Families In State Budget

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that much-needed tax relief for middle-class families, help for job-creating businesses and additional funding for our school children are all included in the recently passed 2013-14 state budget.  For the third consecutive year, the budget keeps spending growth below two percent, which is consistent with the local spending cap that applies to school districts and local governments.

Senator Flanagan Pays Respects At 9/11 Memorial Site

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined Jay Weinkam of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum for a tour of the site in lower Manhattan.  The memorial and the museum are dedicated to the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the terror attacks of 9/11 as well as the six people who were killed in the 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center.

During the visit, Senator Flanagan viewed the two enormous reflecting pools that stand within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood.  The reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America.  The names of every person who was killed in both the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed on bronze panels edging the pools.

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is encouraging everyone in our community to join this year's National Association of Letter Carrier's (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger food drive.  On Saturday, May 11th, letter carriers in our communities will continue their tradition of collecting food along their normal route to help restock community food banks, pantries and shelters.

Senator Flanagan And Assemblyman Lavine Join Together With Early Years Institute and CA Technologies To Promote Screen-Free Week

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) and Assemblyman Charles Lavine (13th Assembly District) recently presented a New York State Legislative Resolution to The Early Years Institute (EYI) proclaiming April 29 – May 5 “Screen-Free Week” in New York State.  This week is designed to help protect today’s “plugged in” kids from the problems associated with spending too much time on computers and other types of electronic devices, and to increase awareness of the downside of screen overuse.  The effort is aimed at helping all young children improve their health and their success in school and life.
