Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) was honored to join the staff and volunteers of the Long Island State Veterans Home (LISVH) in Stony Brook for a special Veteran’s Day ceremony. The event was a salute to the special men and women who reside at the LISVH for their service to the country.
I would like to thank the residents of the 2nd Senate District for providing me with the opportunity to continue serving as their New York State Senator. The ability to represent our community in the Senate over the past eight years has been a privilege and I look forward to working on everyone’s behalf over the next two.
Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently visited Kings Park High School to discuss the New York State Senate with students of the AP Government class.
Senator Flanagan spoke to the students, who are taking part in the class under the direction of teacher Jack Bishop, about his role in the legislative process, his efforts to protect the residents of the 2nd Senate District and other topics that provided the students with an overview of how New York State government operates. The students were then provided with an opportunity to ask Senator Flanagan questions about the state issues that are important to them.
Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined with St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center to unveil improvements at the newly renovated Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Senator Flanagan secured a $100,000 grant for the program which helped enhance the medical center’s ability to enhance its services with advance technology in intravascular imaging.
Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) was recently given a top score on the job creation scorecard released by the Business Council of New York State. The Business Council recognized Senator Flanagan for consistently voting to protect small businesses across the state from increased taxes and out of control state spending that were proposed and passed by Senate Democrats.
Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) was recently honored by the Kings Park Fire District’s Board of Fire Commissioners for his efforts in getting the state to transfer a parcel of land on the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center property to the Kings Park Fire District (KPFD).
The transfer, which was sponsored by Senator Flanagan and Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick (7th Assembly District) in their respective houses of the legislature and signed into law on August 26TH, will enable the fire district to build a substation at the site and provide better service the Kings Park residents.
In an effort to help residents prepare for emergencies, Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined with a number of public agencies to host three community preparedness seminars. The three seminars, which offered residents helpful tips and information, were held at the Kings Park Fire Department, the Lake Ronkonkoma Fire Department and the Half Hollow Hills Library in Dix Hills.
Continuing his annual effort to help the community prepare, Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) will be hosting three Emergency Preparedness Seminars throughout the region. The meetings, which will be held in Dix Hills, Kings Park and Ronkonkoma, will be free of charge to all in the community.

Borowski as his honoree for induction into the New York State Senate Veteran’s Hall of Fame at a special ceremony in Albany. Mr. Borowski, who was nominated by his son Paul E.
