On, Wednesday, December 5th, 2007, State Senator John L. Sampson (D-Brooklyn), in conjunction with the Visiting Nurse Regional Health Care Services (VNR) will be offering FREE influenza (Flu) shots. The Flu shots will be administered to children 6 years and over (accompanied by a parent), and adults over 50, at the Christian Cultural Center, 1400 Linden Boulevard, between Chester & Bristol Streets, from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m."The Flu is a respiratory illness that spreads mainly from person to person through coughing and sneezing.

Stop Sponsoring Genocide

The New York State Senate today passed legislation (S.5287A), co-sponsored by Senator Sampson (D-19) calling on New York companies and government to pull their money from Sudan, in an effort to stop Sudanese government sponsored militia from continuing the ongoing genocide in Darfur."Our State has a moral obligation to support socially constructive investment and to divest from bloody enterprises", said Senator Sampson.

Senator Sampson Breaks Ground Meeting With Health Care Administrators

State Senator John L. Sampson (D-Brooklyn) and State Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm A. Smith (D-Queens) met with administrators from New York City's hospitals and long-term care facilities to discuss the impact of the Governor's health care budget proposals. The meeting, held at the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, was intended to devise strategies to minimize the potential impacts absorbed by health care facilities. Over sixty participants took advantage of the unique opportunity to express their specific needs and convey solutions for health care reform.

Senator Sampson Introduces Legislation To Prohibit Investments That Support Genocide

Senator John Sampson is introducing legislation to stop New York State from investing in companies doing business in the Sudan. This bill ensures that New York does not support business activities with a state that sponsors terrorism and perpetuates genocide in Darfur. The atrocities in Darfur, the Southern region of Sudan, have resulted in the deaths of 400,000 people and the displacement of 2.5 million, inciting outrage throughout the world.
