Renters should complete and submit SBA applications NEW YORK – New York renters may be eligible for additional grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. To find out if renters qualify, they must complete and submit their disaster loan application from the U.S. Small Business Administration. These grants can be used for: • Replacement or repair of necessary personal property lost or damaged in the disaster, household items such as room furnishings or appliances, and tools and equipment required by the self-employed for their jobs • Primary vehicles and approved second vehicles damaged by the disaster

FEMA extends Transitional Sheltering Assistance program in NY

NEW YORK – The Federal Emergency Management Agency, at the request of the State of New York, has approved a 14-day extension to the Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program, which allows eligible survivors from Hurricane Sandy who cannot return to their homes to stay in participating hotels or motels.

Governor Cuomo Announces National Guard to Deliver One Million Meals to Areas Affected by Hurricane Sandy

Albany, NY (November 1, 2012)

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the National Guard with FEMA will deliver one million meals and bottled water to New Yorkers in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Delivery to parts of Lower Manhattan, affected areas in Brooklyn and Queens, including the Rockaways will start today.

I write today in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, one of the most devastating natural disasters that New York City has ever faced.  I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to those who lost loved ones during the storm.  I would also like to publicly thank the brave men and women of the New York City Police and Fire Departments as well as first responders throughout the area for their valiant efforts during the hurricane.  I have no doubt that without their heroism and dedication our losses would have been much higher.
