On October 22, Senator Serrano took part in a free flu-shot event at Julia de Burgos- Taller Boriqua in East Harlem. 150 shots were administered by New York Presbyterian to seniors from the Community.
“It is a pleasure to see local seniors getting the opportunity to receive seasonal influenza vaccines free of cost, and in their own neighborhood,” said Serrano. “Thanks to the hard work of the nurses and New York-Presbyterian staff, there will be 150 less cases of flu in East Harlem this season.”
Senator Serrano sponsored a Health Workshop for Seniors as part of his monthly Roosevelt Island Constituent hours. The Senator has consistently fought to protect public health – on issues related to air quality, food access and environmental justice –throughout the 28th District.
(Upper West Side, NY)- Senator José M. Serrano participated in a rent control forum, sponsored by Tenants & Neighbors, to address the growing concern by community residents regarding rent-controlled apartments and the availability of affordable housing for seniors citizens within New York City. As part of the forum, Senator Serrano discussed the importance of promoting and pushing tenant-friendly legislation in Albany.
