(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano served as Honorary Chairperson, along with Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal, for the 24th Annual New York State Art Teachers Association's Student Art Exhibition. Artwork created by students across New York State was displayed in The Well of the State Capitol building for all to enjoy.
(Central Park, NY)- Senator Serrano helped ring in a new chapter in one of New York City's beloved landmarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony of the renovated Tavern on the Green. Serrano joined NYC Parks' First Deputy Commissioner Liam Kavanagh, NYC Department of Design and Construction Dr. Feniosky Peña-Mora, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Central Park Conservancy President Douglas Blonsky, Restaurateurs Jim Caiola and David Salama, as well as Executive Chef Katy Sparks in the unveiling of the restored Tavern on the Green.
(Bronx, NY)- Senator Serrano celebrated the culture and heritage of his home borough while attending Bronx Week events. Bronx Week is an annual week-long commemoration of everything the Bronx has to offer organized by Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz, Jr. and various local organizations.
Serrano participated in the Arts and Culture reception at the Bronx County Court House. The reception was a showcase of the vivacious arts scene in the Bronx. The reception included the VIP opening of Daniel Hauben's "Bronx Works" exhibit. Hauben is a local Bronx artist.
(New York, NY)- Senator Serrano and his father Congressman José E. Serrano proudly marched with other elected officials, community leaders, union members and thousands of other joyful revelers at this year's National Puerto Rican Day Parade. Around 10,000 individuals lined up to march up Fifth Avenue beginning at 44th street and ending on 79th.
(Roosevelt, Island, NY)- Senator Serrano joined the Roosevelt Island community in celebration of "Roosevelt Island Day." Roosevelt Island Day occurs annually and is an action packed day of activities for the entire community.
(New York, NY)- Senator Serrano participated in the annual New York City Pride Parade. The annual parade takes place along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and is part of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month. LGBT Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, which was a tipping point in the LGBT rights movement.
(Bronx, NY) - Senator Serrano marched in the annual Bronx Dominican Day Parade, which took place along the Grand Concourse, south from East Tremont Avenue to East 167th Street in the Bronx. The parade, which is widely attended by thousands of people across all nationalities, honors and celebrates the history and culture of the Dominican people.
(Upper East Side)- Senator Serrano celebrated the grand opening of the newly renovated four block plaza in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Senator Serrano joined other elected officials, community leaders and museum executives for the introduction of the new $65 Million plaza in front of the museum on Fifth Avenue. Some of the newest additions to plaza include two fountains, new trees, additional seating and new lighting.
