(Bronx, NY) - For the sixth consecutive year, Senator José M. Serrano participated in "It's My Park Day," at Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx. "It's My Park Day" is a joint program hosted by City Parks Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. This fall, the Senator and his family joined local volunteers and environmental activists where they picked up garbage, dug soil, and planted bulbs.

Serrano joined Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito and local community members on East 103rd Street and Lexington Avenue for a street renaming ceremony in honor of great Puerto Rican painter, Rafaelo Tufiño. The stretch of East 103rd Street, between Park and Third Avenues, in Manhattan will be renamed as "Rafael Tufiño Way." During the ceremony, Senator Serrano spoke on the importance of maintaining the cultural history of New York City.

The facility, now named Carolyn McLaughlin Community Center, was renamed in honor of their former Executive Director 's 34 years of long-standing service. Senator Serrano applauded BronxWorks for the important work that it does for the local community.
