Serrano y Peralta en Contra de la Nueva Ley Migratoria en Arizona

Tras la aprobación en Arizona de la ley anti-inmigrante más severa de la nación, los Senadores José M. Serrano y José Peralta hoy se reunieron con la prensa para hablar sobre la injusticia de la nueva ley, y para hacer un llamado para la reforma migratoria. La ley SB 1070, la cual fue firmada por la Gobernadora de Arizona, Jan Brewer, el viernes 23 de abril, requiere que la policía interrogue a las personas sobre su estatus migratorio, y que arresten a individuales si sospechan que están en el país ilegalmente.

Serrano to Community: "Know Your Rights, Know Your Precinct"

On January 27th, Senator José M. Serrano co-hosted “Know Your Rights, Know Your Precinct,” an information session aiming to acquaint East Harlem immigrants with the resources available through the 23rd precinct. “No one’s immigration status should determine their safety,” said the Senator. “It is extremely important for immigrants everywhere to know their rights and to feel safe in the communities in which they reside.”
