Serrano Joins Comptroller Liu in Highbridge

Senator Serrano joined Comptroller John Liu and Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson at Highbridge Senior Center for a meet and greet with local Seniors. "It’s always a pleasure to spend time in Highbridge, and hear questions and concerns from the community," said Senator Serrano. "John Liu is a terrific colleague who has done great work for the Bronx, and it’s wonderful to have him here today.”The event was one part of a full day of Highbridge activities that the Comptroller was scheduled to attend. Also present were Councilmember Helen Diane Foster and various community residents.

Senator Serrano Fights to Keep Senior Centers Open

Senator José M. Serrano joined Senator Ruben Diaz, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., and their colleagues in government on the steps of Bronx Borough Hall today to address the devastating budget proposal that would close 105 senior centers in New York City - 7 of which are located in the 28th Senate District.

In the current state budget proposal, there are significant cuts that would negatively impact funding for senior centers throughout New York City. In the areas represented by Senator Serrano – East Harlem, Yorkville, Roosevelt Island and the South Bronx – senior citizens are already experiencing economic hardships and the closure of needed senior centers will only add to that burden.

Birthdays at River Park Towers!

Senator Serrano and Assemblywoman Gibson celebrate the opening Celebrating the Birthdays of the River Park Towers Community Senator Serrano celebrates with Clarita Smith, 99 yrs, and Louise Mitchell, 106 yrs.

Senator Serrano joined Assemblymember Vanessa Gibson on Tuesday November 12th, in celebrating the opening of the Morris Heights Edu-cational Complex, which includes P 723X and PS 204X. The complex opened in September, and includes a full size gym, auditorium and a state of the art library.

Breaking Barriers: Majority Announces Legislative Package Expanding Opportunities For New Yorkers with Disabilities
