(New York, NY)- Senator Serrano hosted an episode of "Represent NYC" on MNN1, a weekly program produced by Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), that gives local elected officials the opportunity to update the community about the issues that shape our city. The Senator, along with guest panel experts, Marcia Bystryn, President of New York League of Conservation Voters and Aurash Khawarzad, Policy Coordinator at WE ACT for Environmental Justice, discussed issues surrounding climate change and specifically the global environmental action called Earth Hour.
(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano and Assemblyman Guillermo Linares sponsored an important workshop entitled, "The Future of New York: Affordable Housing Preservation and Creation," for the 2015 SOMOS El Futuro Conference weekend in Albany. Experts in the field of housing provided information regarding the challenges our city faces in our fight to preserve affordable housing.
(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano joined a very important rally in support of services for HIV and AIDS. Advocates traveled to Albany, many from the South Bronx and East Harlem, to fight for fair housing, better treatment, respect and ultimately an end to the AIDS epidemic.
(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano met with The Interagency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies, Inc. (IAC), an advocacy group for schools that serve the deaf, blind and physically disabled. The group traveled to Albany to discuss the importance of expanding the services provided for this group.

The Bronx Documentary Center was founded in 2011 and is a non-profit gallery and educational space. The Center displays local photography, film, and new media and has rotating exhibits focusing on the community. As the Senator frequently points out, local arts organizations add to our cultural fabric and act as an economic engine for the South Bronx. Senator Serrano is a long-time supporter of the arts and serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation.

An enthusiastic crowd packed Maestro's Caterers in The Bronx for a celebration of Black History Month and an award ceremony honoring exemplary leaders in the community. Serrano expressed the importance of bringing back arts and music education in schools that have cut or reduced them to provide our children with the best education possible.
