Each day (except Fridays), Senator Serrano's staff will be offering off-site community-based constituent services at convenient locations near you - local libraries, senior centers and offices of other elected officials. Our love for dogs makes sense when you consider the countless studies which show the tremendous benefit dogs and other pets provide to us in so many ways. From alleviating depression and anxiety, to greatly improved overall health, our pets have given us more than we can ever attempt to repay them for.

Senator Serrano Helps Deliver Toys in East Harlem

(East Harlem, NY)- Senator Serrano joined Governor Andrew Cuomo's office and the New York Power Authority to deliver holiday toys to local children in East Harlem at the Union Settlement Association. Senator Serrano was also accompanied by representatives from the New York City Council Speaker, Melissa Mark-Viverito's office and Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez's office.

"The holiday season is a time of giving back," said Senator Serrano. "It was a pleasure to be able to share the holiday spirit and deliver gifts to those in need of holiday cheer. Senator Serrano Applauds Governor Cuomo's Decision to Ban Hydrofracking in New York State

(Albany, NY)- Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo banned Hydraulic Fracturing (hydrofracking or fracking) throughout New York State. This major announcement comes after the Department of Health, citing numerous studies on the negative consequences of hydrofracking, presented their recommendation to ban the practice in New York State.

Senator Serrano Participates in Annual Production of Handel's Messiah

(Bronx, NY)- Senator Serrano joined The Bronx Opera and other elected officials for a presentation of Handel's Messiah at Bronx Community College. Senator Serrano served as one of the presenters for this annual holiday event and read a passage to the jam-packed audience. The Senator was joined by Congressman José E. Serrano, Council Member Andy King, Council Member Andrew Cohen and members of the community for the Bronx holiday tradition. Senator Serrano is a long-time supporter of the arts and serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation.

Senator Serrano Participates in the 11th Annual East Harlem Tree Lighting Ceremony

(East Harlem, NY)- Senator Serrano joined The East Harlem Holiday Tree Committee, East Harlem community residents, and his colleagues for the 11th Annual El Barrio/East Harlem Tree Lighting ceremony. The tree lighting took place in Franklin Plaza on East 106th Street and Third Avenue. This year's theme is "El Barrio United Through Adversity: Remembering our loss, celebrating our fortitude" and the ceremony was dedicated to all those affected by the East Harlem explosion that occurred in March.
