Senator Joseph E. Robach presented Mary Angerame of Brighton with the 2005 Senate Woman of Distinction Award on Tuesday, June 14, as a part of the New York State Senate’s annual "Women of Distinction" ceremony in Albany.

"Too often in society we don’t say thank you enough," Robach said. "This award ceremony is a great opportunity for us to honor Mary Angerame’s tireless work to improve the health care of the greater Rochester community, especially for children, families and those affected by serious and terminal illness.

Senate Medicaid Reform Task Force To Hold Medicaid Fraud Hearings

Senator Joseph E. Robach today announced that the Senate Medicaid Reform Task Force will hold a series of statewide hearings on Medicaid fraud to build support for State action on a problem that is costing New York taxpayers billions of dollars.

"These hearings will help New Yorkers understand the root of the problem and give the Assembly the push they need to enact reforms to change New York’s Medicaid system" stated Senator Robach.

The statewide hearings will solicit input from experts in the Medicaid, health care and law enforcement fields.

Robach Announces Senate's Plan To Crackdown On Medicaid Fraud

NYS Senator Joe Robach announced today the Senate majority’s plan to call for a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s Medicaid fraud detection effort with the goal of dramatically reducing corruption and waste, and increasing the amounts of money returned to taxpayers.

Senate legislation restructures the detection, investigation and prosecution of Medicaid fraud in New York by strengthening and streamlining the roles of the Health Department and Attorney General, and creates a new Medicaid Inspector General to help uncover fraud, waste and abuse.

On-time Budget Yes, Reform Measures Must Continue

It is always a good day when something you have worked long and hard for comes to fruition. The Legislature passing a budget prior to the April 1st deadline through an open conference committee process is a historic moment in New York history. School districts, not for profits and other critically important organizations and programs will be able to avoid financial obstacles as they now have time to plan for the upcoming year.

Senator Joe Robach Announces Aid Increase For Brighton Schools

Senator Joseph Robach today announced that the Brighton Central School District will receive an increase in school aid this year, a nearly $314,302 or 4% increase over the Governor’s proposal. The Governor’s budget would have slightly cut funding to the school district by approximately $30,000.

Robach Announces The Passage Of Legislation To Designate Section Of Expressway As 'erie Canal Expressway'

Senator Joseph Robach today announced the passage of legislation in the New York State Senate that will designate part of the expressway in greater Rochester as the "Erie Canal Expressway."

By renaming this portion of the expressway, which tracks the canal’s original route, the State acknowledges the historical role the Erie Canal has played in opening up western New York and, particularly, the Rochester area.

Robach To Sponsor Legislation To Improve Safety Of Railroad Crossings

Senator Joseph Robach announced today that he will be introducing legislation in the Senate which will require the State of New York to implement a statewide toll-free emergency notification system ("ENS") that would enable people to report safety problems at railroad crossings by calling a 1-800 number. The legislation will require the New York State Department of Transportation to implement the toll-free ENS and they will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the data it generates.

Senator Robach Secures $1.5 Million To Expand Highland Hospital's Emergency Department

This year 20 percent of us will need emergency treatment. The Highland Hospital Emergency Department has been providing this critical care to the Rochester community for over a century.

Over the last five years, the number of patients admitted to Highland Hospital’s emergency room has more than doubled and, as a result, the hospital has become dangerously overcrowded. Unfortunately, many of those seeking care at Highland have been forced to be seen in the hallways as their need is greater than their facility.
