On Thursday morning, I had the privilege to speak at, and cut the ribbon at, the grand reopening of the Greece Public Library, located on the Town Hall campus. As a part of the renovation, approximately 3,000 square feet of space was re-purposed to create two 1,500 square foot program rooms. Also, the Secondhand Prose Bookstore was relocated to the front of the library and the teen area was relocated to the west of the new program room.
On Saturday, August 11th, I had the privilege to take part in a ceremony to dedicate a peace garden to celebrate 200 years of peace between the U.S. and Canada. The property is located at Mayer's Lake Ontario Winery, 1593 Hamlin Parma Townline Road in Hilton.
(Rochester, NY) - Last night, I had the privilege to take part in a number of the celebrations around our community to mark National Night Out. Greece, Charlotte, and the Maplewood area were just some of the communities that hosted family-oriented events to take a stand against crime.
Recently, I had the privilege to visit with youth from our community and their families at Puerto Rican Youth Development's Safe Summer Family Day. There were board games, volleyball, a bounce house, and other activities for families to participate in. Great work by everyone involved.
(Clarkson, NY) - On Wednesday Night, August 1st, I had the privilege to present a proclamation to Don Lage, who was honored by the Clarkson Historical Society for his commitment to the restoration of Clarkson Academy. Congrats to Don and thank you for your service to our community!
Recently, I had the opportunity to speak at, and take part in the ground breaking ceremony at, an event to mark the beginning of the Erie Harbor Enhancement Project. This project includes the replacement of River Park Commons with the 131-unit Erie Harbor Apartments, which are almost completed, and improvements along Mount Hope Avenue.
Recently, I had the honor to be a part of the grand opening celebration at Steel River BBQ Bar and Grill in Charlotte. The restaurant is located at 421 River Street. It is open 7 days week, Sundays through Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursdays through Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. Steel River also offers barbeque with a Hispanic flair, including Cuban Roast Pork Platter and Pulled Pork Empanda. Recently, I had the privilege to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, the grand opening ceremony for Benedettos Restaurant. Benedettos is located in the East End, on 289 Alexander Street. The restaurant offers casual Italian-American cuisine, and features two private dining areas across two floors and a first floor has a full bar with additional seating. Benedettos is open 7 days week, at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
This morning, I had the privilege to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to mark the opening of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority's Administration Building. It is located on East Main Street. The building is named after John Doyle Jr.
On Saturday, I had the privilege to take part in the 2012 Puerto Rican Parade in downtown Rochester. This was a part of the 43rd annual Puerto Rican festival, which took place over the weekend at Frontier Field. Thank you to those who came out to support the parade and take part in this great event!

The new state-of-the-art building includes modern classrooms, a healthcare lab, a cosmetology salon, and a bistro. California Rollin', which has been at Village Gate since 1994, held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday to unveil their newly expanded restaurant. The expanded restaurant now occupies space that was next to its previous location. The restaurant currently has one other location, at the Port Terminal in Charlotte. California Rollin' is set to open a third location later this year on Genesee Street.
