Brass Taxi Performs at Concerts by the Shore

On Wednesday, July 11th, I had the privilege to join Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and introduce Brass Taxi (pictured above) prior to thier performance at Concerts by the Shore. The free concert series takes place every Wednesday night, until the end of August, at Ontario Beach Park, beginning at 7:00. Bryant & Stratton Breaks Ground

(Rochester, NY) - Recently, I had the privilge to speak at, and take part in, the ground breaking ceremony for Bryant and Stratton College's new campus in Greece. The new campus, on Long Pond Road, is expected to house classes beginning in January 2013. It will have a larger library and learning center than its current location offers, along with a medical lab, a crime lab, and computer labs. Unity Hospital Opens New Cafe

Unity Hospital opened its new bistro style Café.

The new Café has doubled in size - from 4,472 square feet to over 9,000 square feet  - to match the expanding size of the new Hospital that will be complete in 2014. The Café serves approximately 1,100 meals per day, servicing nearly 2,600 Unity employees on the Hospital campus.   

 

This new bistro-style Café was created for the comfort and enjoyment of employees as visitors who need a comfortable space while waiting or in the course of visiting friends and loved ones.

Brighton Chamber of Commerce Memorial Stone Dedication

Earlier this morning, I had the privilege to speak at the dedication ceremony at the Twelve Corners Memorial Stone in Brighton. Herb Ross, who was a vital part of the Brighton community for so many years, received the honor of having his name added to the memorial stone. I had the pleasure of working with Herb throughout the years, both on my staff and in other capacities. Herb passed away earlier this year. He was a Korean War Army veteran who also served afterward in the Army Reserve, attaining the rank of major. He volunteered for six decades at Temple B’rith Kodesh and twice served as president of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce. Herb also worked for a long time at Daw Drug Co., then as an insurance agent. I am pictured with my daughter and members of Herb's family.

Pickleball Courts Open in Monroe County

On Tuesday, July 2nd, I had the privilege to speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the first Pickleball courts in Monroe County. 2012 Corn Hill Arts Festival Poster Unveiling

On Thursday afternoon, I had the privilege to speak at the unveiling of the offical poster for the 2012 Corn Hill Arts Festival. The unveiling was held aboard the Mary Jemison boat, which will be used as a shuttle for this weekend's festival. The 2012 Corn Hill Festival is this Saturday and Sunday, July 7th and 8th. Academy Building Renovations Begin

On Thursday, I spoke at a cermeony to announce the renovation of the Academy Building downtown. The $5.8 million dollar project will transform the building into commercial and residential space. An $800,000 grant from the Restore New York fund was secured for this project. Located at 13 Fitzhugh Street, the building housed Rochester's first high school.

School Modernization Program Kicks Off

(Rochester, N.Y.) - Earlier this afternoon, I had the privilege to take part in the Rochester City School District's ground breaking ceremony to launch the schools modernization program. Five schools will mark the beginning of a $325 million dollar construction program. Overall, 15 projects are to be completed by September 2015 as phase one of the schools modernization program. Today's ceremony was held at School No. 50, where work is underway.

On Wednesday, I was a part of the grand reopening ceremony at the Tops Supermarket in Hilton. The store recently underwent renovations, and used to be Furnal's Fresh Market. Greece Central School District Summer Reading Initiative

Earlier today, I had the opportunity to record a segment to discuss the summer reading initiative sponsored by Greece Central School District. Greece-Turning Pages encourages students from kindergarten through high school to take an active participation in summer reading to help them maintain their reading skills and return to school in the fall, ready to learn. Rally for Karen Klein

On Friday evening, June 22nd, I had the privilege to attend, and speak at, a rally for Karen Klein. As many of you know, Karen is the bus monitor from Greece who was the victim of bullying by middle school students. The video of the event has become a national story. Over 100 members of the Greece community also came out to the rally.

Recently I had the privilege to attend a ceremony at Twelve Corners Middle School in Brighton where the school received an award for the New York State Education Department. Twelve Corners was designated a 2012 Essential Elements: Schools to Watch recipient. Congratulations to the students, faculty, and staff on a job well done!

Regus Group Opens Downtown Office

Recently, I had the privilege to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, the grand opening ceremony for Regus Group. The Regus Business Center is designed for small business owners that want a presence downtown. It is 10,000 square feet which includes conferences rooms, a kitchen, and wi-fi access. Regus also provides administrative services. Regus has over 1,000 locations around the world.

Yesterday, I had the privilege to recognize Autumn Lane Elementary School library and Brighton Memorial Library with New York State Resolutions. Both libraries were presented awards during the Rochester Regional Library Council's 46th Annual Membership Meeting.
