Verizon Foundation Announces Grant to Veterans Outreach Center

On Wednesday, February 23rd, the Verizon Foundation awarded Veterans Outreach Center a $10,000 grant to address the disparities in services for female veterans from the Finger Lakes Region who have recently return from tours-of-duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. Recently, Senator Robach had the opportunity to present Miss Evelyn Lashley with an American flag in honor of her receiving her U.S. citizenship. The ARC of Monroe County assists Evelyn, and she currently lives in a residence in Penfield.

Sahlen's Acquire Naming Rights to Downtown Rochester Stadium

On Thursday, February 10, Adirondack Sports Club Chairman Robert Clark announced at a press conference that the organization has secured a new naming rights sponsor for the multi-use stadium. Senator Robach attended, and provided remarks, at the press conference where the new name of the downtown stadium was announced. The home of the Rochester Rhinos, Western New York Flash, and Rochester Rattlers will be called Sahlen's Stadium. St. Ann's Community Announces Expansion

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend, and speak at, a ceremony to mark the ...expansion of St. Ann's Community. A new building on St. Ann’s Irondequoit campus will house a transitional care center with 72 beds and a palliative care center with 10 beds. A new building on St. Ann’s Cherry Ridge campus in Webster will house a long term care center with 60 beds and a transitional care center with 12 beds. The construction is expected to be completed and the buildings occupied by March 2012.

On Thursday, February 3rd, The August Group celebrated its 9th Anniversary with an event at The Bagel Bin Cafe in Brighton. Senator Robach Speaks on Senate Floor Regarding Property Tax Cap

On Monday, January 31st, the New York State Senate, by a 43-17 vote, passed the Property Tax Cap. Senator Robach said the following on the Senate Floor, "Let me explain to my colleagues in New York City, we do not have hundreds of thousands of people moving into our districts. People are voting with their feet, and are saying it's because of high property tax."

Maplewood YMCA Unveils Expansion, Renovations

On Monday, January 17th, the Maplewood YMCA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of renovations which totaled $5 million dollars, which added 16,000 square feet of space. Aquinas, Prime Time Brass Team Up for Honor Flight Fundraiser

Aquinas Institute and Prime Time Brass teamed up to raise funds for Honor Flight Rochester, a program which transports local WWII veterans by plane to view the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. The resulting benefit concert took place at Aquinas on Saturday, January 15, 2011, featuring a mix of jazz, big band and patriotic music performed by Prime Time Brass,  the Aquinas Jazz Ensemble, national recording artist Joe Brucato, the Ghost Riders and the Image City Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines International.

Verizon Wireless Opens New Store in Henrietta

On Monday, January 3rd, Verizon Wireless opened its new location on Jefferson Road. During the ceremony, The Salvation Army Rochester Area Services was awarded a HopeLine Grant from Verizon Wireless, which will benefit the Army’s Hope House Women’s Shelter. The $10,000 grant will be used to provide case management services to homeless women impacted by domestic violence

“About 85 percent of the women who come to Hope House are dealing with issues of domestic violence,” Said Major James Cocker, Rochester area coordinator for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful for this grant, as it will help us provide the much needed support the women in our shelter need to become self-sufficient.”

From One Closet to Another Coats for Kids Clothes Drive a BIG Success!

On Wednesday, December 22nd, Senator Robach had the privilege to donate all of the winter articles of clothing that were donated to the "From One Closet to Another" Coats for Kids Winter Clothes Drive. Clothing was donated to the Greece Ecumenical Clothes Closet. I thank everyone for their tremendous support and generosity throughout the past three weeks, and for making this project so successful! WDKX Brings Christmas Downtown

On Saturday, December 18th, WDKX 103.9 FM brought Christmas downtown during its live broadcast from the Monroe County Office Building. During the broadcast, winter coats were given away to children in the Rochester area. Santa Claus and other guests also stopped by the broadcast to visit with those in attendance.

Brookside Students Donate to Clothes Drive

On Friday, December 17th, students at Brookside Elementary School in Greece donated hats, mittens, and other winter articles of clothing to Senator Robach's "From One Closet to Another" Coats for Kids Clothes Drive. Senator Robach is pictured with fourth and fifth graders of the student council. Third graders were not able to attend this morning's event due to a field trip. Articles of clothing will be delivered to the Greece Ecumenical Clothes Closet next week.

Town of Greece Seniors Christmas Party

On Wednesday, December 15th, the Town of Greece held its annual Seniors Christmas Party at the Town Community and Senior Center. Senator Robach spoke with residents prior to lunch.
