RHYBL Celebrates Opening Day 2011

On Saturday, June 4th, I had the honor to participate in Opening Day activities for the Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball League. The Opening Day ceremony was dedicated to the memory of Staff Sgt. Javier O. Ortiz, who was killed while on active duty as a United State Marine serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Ortiz's children threw out the opening pitch. DePaul Bullshead Commons Campus Open House

On Friday, June 3rd, Senator Robach had to the opportunity to attend, and speak at, an event at DePaul Bullshead Commons on West Main Street in Rochester. DePaul is a private, not-for-profit organization that is celebrating 53 years of service to our community. The new... DePaul Bullshead Commons Campus contains Halstead Sqaure, a 75-bed Community Residence - Single Room Occupancy Program, and the 14-bed Main Street Treatment Apartment Program. Both serve adults with a mental health diagnosis.

MCC President Honored as 'Woman of Distinction'

On Tuesday, May 24th, Senator Joe Robach honored Monroe Community College president, Dr. Anne M. Kress as a 2011 Woman of Distinction. A ceremony will take place in Albany.


“During her time at Monroe Community College, Dr. Kress has made a remarkable impact on MCC’s students, faculty, staff, and the entire Rochester community,” said Senator Robach. “The ‘Women of Distinction’ program provides a special opportunity to honor successful women, such as Dr. Kress, for their achievements and to thank them for the pride they bring to the community.”

SAFER Recognizes Domestic Violence Survivors, Local Police Officers

On Friday, May 20th, Senator Robach attended a ceremony at the Public Safety Building to honor local police officers and survivors of domestic violence. SAFER, or Survivors Advocating for Effective Reform held the ceremony as a part of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week. Police officers from Greece, Rochester, Gates and Fairport were recognized, along with the county sheriff and probation departments.

Erie Harbor Wall Raising Ceremony

On Thursday, May 19th, I had the opportunity to attend, and speak at, a wall raising ceremony for the new Erie Harbor apartment building that is currently under construction on Mt. Hope Avenue. For more about this new venture, you can visit The project is expected to be complete this summer.

2011 Invention Convention at RMSC

Easter Seals Walk With Me Rochester

On Saturday morning, May 14th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to visit with participants of, and make remarks at, the Easter Seals Walk With me Rochester. Despite the soggy and damp weather, it was great to see so many people out on Saturday. There were a number of groups and organizations who had teams participating in the two-mile walk. Kirk Road Elementary Kids Raise Funds for Anna's Wish

Veterans Return from Honor Flight

On Sunday, May 15th, Senator Robach had the privilege to welcome back World War II veterans from their Honor Flight over the weekend. This was the second Honor Flight this year put on by Honor Flight Rochester. The organization's goal is to take every veteran, who otherwise could not or would not go, to Washington D.C. During the ceremony, students from Aquinas Institute, Canandaigua Academy, and Medina presented donations to Honor Flight Rochester. Brighton Volunteer Ambulance Kicks off National EMS Week

On Sunday, May 15th, Senator Robach had the honor to meet with the great folks over at Brighton Volunteer Ambulance during their open house. May 15th through May 21st is National EMS Week. It was great to see families taking a tour of the base and learning about the tools these men and women use on a daily basis to help save lives. 13th Annual Ugly Tie and Purse Luncheon

On Friday, May 13th, Senator had the privilege to judge the 13th Annual Ugly Tie and Purse Luncheon. This event, which benefits St. Joseph's Villa, was attended by 270 people and emceed by 13 WHAM's Doug Emblidge. Congratulations to all the winners of this year's luncheon! Prizes were handed out for the ugliest homemade and store bought ties, along with the ugliest homemade and store bought purses. Hilton Lady Cadets Go Pink

The Hilton Lady Cadets lacrosse team is going pink for breast cancer awareness. The girls wore special pink jersey prior to Mother's Day for Breast Cancer Awareness. On Monday, May 16th, they will hold a special breast cancer awareness night when they take on Greece Arcadia/Olympia at 7:30. The team members are: Alex Bennett, Katrina Campbell, Shannen Drennon, Sam Ekiert, Danielle Endres, Anai Flanagan, Serena Gates, Bridget Hamlin, Leia Hayward, Sarah Johnson, Briana Kimble, Monica Messina, Jessica Noto, Stephani Pakusch, Alex Phillips, Biz Reinhardt, Nadia Wallace, Danielle Wilkin, and Jessica Zagari. Bill Lawler 5k Pre-Run Celebration

On Thursday, May 5, I had the privilege to attend a pre-run celebration for the Bill Lawler 5k. This event, to benefit Huntington's Disease Society of America Upstate New York Chapter, takes place tomorrow, Saturday May 7th. It is NOT too late to take part in the 5k run or the 2-mile walk. Brighton Little Leaguers Ready to PLAY BALL!

On Saturday, April 30th, Senator Robach had the honor to take part in Opening Day festivities for Brighton Little League. This included a parade and post parade ceremony, where he spoke to all of the participants in this great program. Northwest Savings Bank Expands to Brighton

On Thursday, April 28th, Senator Robach had the privilege to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newest Northwest Savings Bank location. The branch, located at 1441 Monroe Ave. in Brighton, opened for business last Thursday and donated $1,000 to Brighton Volunteer Ambulance during the ceremony. Northwest Savings Bank has other locations throughout our area in Greece, Gates, Penfield, and downtown.

Greece Arbor Day Tree Planting

On Friday, April 29th, the Town of Greece held a tree-planting ceremony in honor of Arbor Day. This year, the town planted a tree in memory of a good friend of mine, Ed Marianetti. I was honored to speak at the ceremony and take part in the planting of the tree, which is located in front of Town Hall. Ed's son, Brian, and Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks also provided remarks to a number of Ed's friends, who were in attendance. Christopher M. Marron Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Greentopia Festival Announced

Recently, I had the opportunity to make remarks at a press conference to announce the Greentopia Festival. The festival will take place at High Falls on the weekend of September 17th and 18th and will provide entertainment for the whole family, along with providing innovative ideas on how to be more friendly to the environment. Nothnagle Unveils New Corporate Headquarters

On Monday, April 18th, Senator Robach had the honor to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to mark the official opening of Nothnagle Realtors new corporate headquarters. The new office, located in downtown Rochester at 217 West Main Street, will bring 70 employees to the area. Nothnagle acquired the 27,000-square foot property in 2009.
