Gabe Dalmath Memorial Walk Raises Money for Camp Northpoint

On Sunday morning, March 20th, Senator Robach spoke to participants at the 8th Annual Gabe Dalmath Memorial Walk to benefit Camp Northpoint. Money raised will help improve the 48-acre YMCA camp that kids from kindergarten through ninth grade can attend. Over 200 people took part in the walk at the Mall at Greece Ridge.

Greece Athena Basketball Coach Debuts New Book

On Saturday, March 19th, Senator Robach spoke at Greece Athena High School, where boys basketball head coach Jim Johnson debuted his new book, "A Coach and A Miracle". The book discusses the 2005-2006 basketball season, which included Jason McElwain's special game on February 15th, 2006 against Spencerport. The Town of Greece celebrated St. Patrick's Day at the Community and Senior Center with a lunch for seniors and a performance by the dancers from the Young School of Irish Dance. Senator Robach attended this afternoon's St. Patrick's Day event and made remarks to guests after the performances.

Greece Athena Middle School Director Honored Before Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

On Friday, March 4th, Greece Athena Middle School opened up its production of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Prior to the first show of the weekend, Senator Robach presented a certificate to Artistic Director Carl Wager. Wager is retiring after a 39-year career of a teacher and director. 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' continues Friday March 11th at 7:30 and Saturday March 12th at 2:00 and 7:30 at the Greece Athena Performing Arts Center.

South Avenue Goes Blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness

On Friday, March 4th, Senator Robach spoke at 'South Avenue Goes Blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness'. During the event, free health screenings were given to the uninsured, ages 40 and older. South Avenue Goes Blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness also featured remarks from cancer survivor Ronald Banks. 79th Annual Aquinas Institute Mission Bouts

Senator Robach was in attendance at the 79th Annual Mission Bouts in the Wegman-Napier Gymnasium at the Aquinas Institute.

 

Congratulations to the boxers who trained rigorously for months with Coach Dominic Arioli and his long-time assistants Chris Schwab, Lou Buscemi & Bernie Barco.

 

This year, the Bouts were dedicated to Dominic Arioli, in honor of his 30th anniversary as a coach. As a 1973 alumnus of Aquinas, Dom has dedicated much of his life to fostering the program that he grew to love as a student. Dominic's devotion, understanding, commitment and ability not only to teach, but to relate to our young people have endeared him in the hearts of all the young men and women who have climbed through the ropes of the Aquinas boxing ring.

Gerald Wolters Receives Purple Heart

On Thursday, February 24th, Senator Robach attended a ceremony where North Chili resident Gerald Wolters was presented a Purple Heart by United States Senator Charles Schumer. The event took place at the Blue Cross Area at the Rochester War Memorial. Wolters, a corporal in the Army and deployed to Korea, was seriously injured and then captured on December 1, 1950. He was held as a prisoner of war for more than 2 and a half years. He was released and discharged from the Army on October 12, 1953.

Verizon Foundation Announces Grant to Veterans Outreach Center

On Wednesday, February 23rd, the Verizon Foundation awarded Veterans Outreach Center a $10,000 grant to address the disparities in services for female veterans from the Finger Lakes Region who have recently return from tours-of-duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. Sahlen's Acquire Naming Rights to Downtown Rochester Stadium

On Thursday, February 10, Adirondack Sports Club Chairman Robert Clark announced at a press conference that the organization has secured a new naming rights sponsor for the multi-use stadium. Senator Robach attended, and provided remarks, at the press conference where the new name of the downtown stadium was announced. The home of the Rochester Rhinos, Western New York Flash, and Rochester Rattlers will be called Sahlen's Stadium. St. Ann's Community Announces Expansion

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend, and speak at, a ceremony to mark the ...expansion of St. Ann's Community. A new building on St. Ann’s Irondequoit campus will house a transitional care center with 72 beds and a palliative care center with 10 beds. A new building on St. Ann’s Cherry Ridge campus in Webster will house a long term care center with 60 beds and a transitional care center with 12 beds. The construction is expected to be completed and the buildings occupied by March 2012.
