The bill (S.3988), sponsored by Senator Andrew Lanza (R-C, Staten Island), would help patients by enabling oral chemotherapy – a treatment in pill form - to be covered by insurance as a chemotherapy treatment. “There is absolutely no reason why life-saving medicines should be covered differently simply because of the way they are administered,” said Senator Lanza. “This bill is about keeping up with the times and the changing face of medicine.”

Senate Passes Bill Creating Crime of Environmental Damage

-Senator Robach's Legislation in Response to Crime at RG&E's Russell Station in 2010 -

Not only was there 4,800 gallons of oil drained at this location, but there was also hundreds of thousands of dollars in clean up costs associated. Shortly after this crime, I introduced legislation that would criminalize intentional or reckless damage to the environment done in the course of committing another crime. Late last night, the New York State Senate passed this legislation, bill S702A. You can read the summary of the bill below:

BILL NUMBER: S702A

The bill (S.709), sponsored by Senator Joseph Robach (R-C-I, Rochester), increases the ability of New Yorkers to place an issue on a ballot for a public vote.

“This proposal to establish a process of initiative and referendum in New York State is simply good government,” Senator Robach said. “It is the type of reform that my Senate colleagues and I have consistently fought for and will continue to support so that voters statewide can be given a more direct and effective voice with which to further New York’s democratic process.”
