On Monday, January 17th, the Maplewood YMCA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of renovations which totaled $5 million dollars, which added 16,000 square feet of space. On Friday, March 4th, Greece Athena Middle School opened up its production of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Prior to the first show of the weekend, Senator Robach presented a certificate to Artistic Director Carl Wager. Wager is retiring after a 39-year career of a teacher and director. 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' continues Friday March 11th at 7:30 and Saturday March 12th at 2:00 and 7:30 at the Greece Athena Performing Arts Center.
On Sunday morning, March 20th, Senator Robach spoke to participants at the 8th Annual Gabe Dalmath Memorial Walk to benefit Camp Northpoint. Money raised will help improve the 48-acre YMCA camp that kids from kindergarten through ninth grade can attend. Over 200 people took part in the walk at the Mall at Greece Ridge.

On Saturday, March 26th, I had the opportunity to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to dedicate the new Section Five Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is now located permanently at Sahlen's Stadium (formerly PAETEC Park) in downtown Rochester. Past student-athletes, contributors, administrators, and officials are honored in the hall. Section Five will induct the 2011 Hall of Fame Class at a ceremony next Thursday night, April 7th. Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet with a group from the Monroe County School Boards Association as we considered solutions to rising costs with fewer resources. Pictured with me is John Piper, Penfield School Board Member, and Jeff Crane, West Irondequoit Superintendent.
On Sunday, April 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend One Step Closer's Bowl-a-thon at Clover Lanes. Families took part in the event which raised money for the organization, which is dedicated for providing needy youth in the Rochester City Schools with a new pair of shoes for the new school year so they may start the year with pride. On Friday, April 15th, Senator Robach visited with students at School No. 34 in Rochester. The Dr. Louis A. Cerulli School hosted its annual "Snuggle Up with a Good Book/Poem in Your Pocket Day". After talking with students and teachers, Senator Robach also visited with a fifth grade class.
On Saturday, April 30th, Senator Robach had the honor to take part in Opening Day festivities for Brighton Little League. This included a parade and post parade ceremony, where he spoke to all of the participants in this great program. It was great to meet a number of parents and ball players throughout the morning and afternoon. Senator Robach wish you all a successful 2011 Little League season! On Friday, May 13th, Senator had the privilege to judge the 13th Annual Ugly Tie and Purse Luncheon. This event, which benefits St. Joseph's Villa, was attended by 270 people and emceed by 13 WHAM's Doug Emblidge. Congratulations to all the winners of this year's luncheon! Prizes were handed out for the ugliest homemade and store bought ties, along with the ugliest homemade and store bought purses.
