On Saturday, December 17th, Senator Robach joined WDKX 103.9 FM at the Monroe County Office Building for their annual Christmas event, "WDKX Brings Christmas Downtown". Children and families had their pictures taken with Santa Claus. Coats, mittens, and other winter articles of clothing were also given out to families. WDKX broadcasted live from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Bills intended to make riding bus safer for students, enhance communication, and make “school bus” signs more economical
The New York State Senate yesterday passed a series school bus bills that will ensure child safety and enhanced communication.
A bill was passed, sponsored by Senator John Bonacic, that increases the penalties for passing a stopped school bus (S.3099A). The legislation would impose a sixty day suspension of a driver’s license if convicted of passing a stopped school bus two or more times.
This legislation would make the penalties for passing a stopped school bus multiple times the same as penalties for drivers convicted of speeding in a construction zone two or more times.

Recently, I had the privilege to take part in the March Against Violence. The march was organized by Bridges to Wellness, which is a community health initiative in northeast Rochester that engages residents to bring about positive changes to their community. The march was put on by Bonita Blocker, whose brother was murdered and Jesse Knoth, who is the reisdent organizer/youth coordinator for Bridges to Wellness.
Rochester, NY - This past weekend, I had the privilege to meet with hockey players and their families, and speak with participants during the Rochester Special Hockey Tournament at The Sports Center at MCC. Congratulations to all of the participants and a job well done and keep up the great work on and off the ice!
Measures Increase Penalties, Enhance Community Notification and Protection
The New York State Senate today passed a package of eight bills to prevent sexual predators from obtaining access to potential victims and help law enforcement and communities keep track of their whereabouts. The bills will help increase the amount of information available about convicted sex offenders and seeks to prevent them from obtaining access to vulnerable individuals.

Recently, I had the privilege to attend, and speak at, the award ceremony for the "Lend Us Your Story Video Contest". This contest was for children under the age of 17, and required them to shoot short videos about why the Rochester Public Library is important to them. The grand prize winner received a Kindle Fire, and the second and third prize winners received a Kindle. Great work by all the kids involved!
Recently I had the privilege to attend a ceremony at Twelve Corners Middle School in Brighton where the school received an award for the New York State Education Department. Twelve Corners was designated a 2012 Essential Elements: Schools to Watch recipient. Congratulations to the students, faculty, and staff on a job well done!
