Senator Robach Announces Job Creation and Retention Plan

On Thursday, February 18th, Senator Robach announced a new jobs initiative program designed to improve New York’s business climate, reduce taxes, and help employers create new jobs for workers across the State. Joining Senator Robach for the announcement were Todd Hockenberger, Corporate Vice President, PGM Corporation; Sandy Parker, President and CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance; Matt Hurlbutt, Managing Director, Business Development of Greater Rochester Enterprise; and Jodie Perry, President & CEO, Greece Chamber of Commerce.

Senator Robach Cuts Ribbon on Expanded EPIC Advisors Headquarters

On Tuesday, July 13th, Senator Robach joined Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks; Robert Judd and Jim Genthner from EPIC Advisors, Inc.; City Councilman Dana Miller; and Bret Garwood from the City of Rochester; to cut the ribbon on EPIC Advisors' expanded company headquarters in downtown Rochester.

NYS Department of Labor Launches New Website for Job Seekers

To make it easier for job seekers to search for careers, the New York State Department of Labor has launched the New York State Job Bank web site: http://www.laborny.jobs/. There are 84,217 jobs posted on the new site and it continues to grow.

The site offers free services for both job seekers and businesses to speed hiring. Job seekers can post resumes and scan job openings, while businesses can post job openings and view resumes to find qualified candidates.

The new site offers these benefits for the job seeker:

* Helps them to search job listings by key word or location

* Alerts them to the latest job postings as often as they choose

* Allows them to post resumes

* Gives them the option to let employers view their resume

Verizon Wireless Opens New Store in Henrietta

On Monday, January 3rd, Verizon Wireless opened its new location on Jefferson Road. During the ceremony, The Salvation Army Rochester Area Services was awarded a HopeLine Grant from Verizon Wireless, which will benefit the Army’s Hope House Women’s Shelter. The $10,000 grant will be used to provide case management services to homeless women impacted by domestic violence

“About 85 percent of the women who come to Hope House are dealing with issues of domestic violence,” Said Major James Cocker, Rochester area coordinator for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful for this grant, as it will help us provide the much needed support the women in our shelter need to become self-sufficient.”

Senate Passes Job Creation & Taxpayer Protection Act

The New York State Senate today passed the Job Creation and Taxpayer Protection Act of 2011, a three-part plan to encourage the creation of new private sector jobs and ensure fiscal responsibility, including the enactment of a two percent state spending cap and requiring a two-thirds “super majority” vote to increase taxes.

Senator Joe Robach (R,I,C -56th Senate District) said, “Job creation across New York should be one of our biggest priorities. The taxes and fees that were imposed as a result of last year’s budget, which I opposed, are making it very difficult for businesses to operate and grow jobs in our community.”

The August Group Celebrates 9 Years

On Thursday, February 3rd, The August Group celebrated its 9th Anniversary with an event at The Bagel Bin Cafe in Brighton. Bike Zone Opens New Location in Greece

On Thursday, April 7th, Senator Robach made remarks during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Bike Zone location in Greece. Bike Zone is now located at 2100 Ridge Road West. R.I.T. Breaks Ground for Golisano Institute for Sustainability

On Friday, April 15th, Senator Robach spoke at, and took part in, a groundbreaking ceremony at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The school broke ground on the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. The building will serve as a center for sustainability research, technology transfer, education and outreach and will provide a showcase for green construction and design. RIT received a $13.1 million grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Construction Grant Program for the facility and $10 million in funding from the state of New York to assist with construction.
