On Thursday, I had the privilege to speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Art Walk Extension and Enhancement Project. The project reconstructs University Avenue from North Goodman Street to Union Street by replacing aging streets and sidewalks. The portion unveiled today runs east to west on University Avenue from Goodman Street to Union Street, and north to south on Goodman Street from Village Gates to the Rochester Museum and Science Center.
Earlier this afternoon, I had the privilege to present the 2012 Human Service Courage Award to City of Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio. I also had the honor of nominating Anthony for the award for his dedication to our community and his amazing recovery and return to work after being shot in the line of duty in 2009. Congratulations to all of this year's award winners!
On Thursday evening, I had the privilege to speak at the 11th Annual Wilson Magnet High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Induction Ceremony. On Wednesday night, I had the privilege to attend, and speak at, the annual St. Lawrence School Veterans Day concert. Students from grades 4-6 took part in the concert to honor our country and those who have served it. Great job by all the students!
On Thursday night, I had the honor to speak at, and talk with students, faculty, staff, their families, and local veterans at the annual Veterans Day ceremony. This was the 26th year for the ceremony. The students, faculty, and staff did a wonderful job as always on this great annual event to honor those who have served our Country.
Last night I had the privilege to join families from the Town of Greece, the Greece Arcadia Middle School Chorus, and Santa Claus at the Town of Greece Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. It was a pleasure to see so many families taking part in this year's ceremony. Great job by the Greece Arcadia Middle School Chorus in their performance last night!
Earlier today, I had the privilege to attend the annual North Clinton Tree Lighting. The event featured a parade, which included Santa Claus and students from Schools Number 9 and 20 in the City of Rochester. The event is sponsored by the North Clinton Business Association, along with support from Albert Algarin.
On Saturday, I had the privilege to take part in the WDKX 103.9 FM Share the Warmth annual holiday event. This event provides children the opportunity to pick up winter coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and hats that were graciously donated to WDKX. Thank you to all who helped make this event possible!
Earlier this morning, I had the privilege to take part in the Virgil I. Grissom School #7 Faculty/Guest vs. Students basketball game. I was joined by New York State Assemblyman Brian Kolb, along with faculty and staff from School #7. Prior to the game, I had the opportunity to meet with students in their classroom, and following the game, I met members of the school's basketball team. Great job by everyone this morning and great school spirit shown by all of the students in attendance!
