Senator Robach Cuts Ribbon on Lake Ontario State Parkway Trail

On Thursday, December 4, Senator Robach joined the New York State Department of Transportation and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to officially open a new multi-use trail. The trail, located along the Lake Ontario State Parkway, spans 3.3 miles and is 12 feet wide. Providing a safer alternative to the parkway shoulder, the trail can be used year round.

Sahlen's Acquire Naming Rights to Downtown Rochester Stadium

On Thursday, February 10, Adirondack Sports Club Chairman Robert Clark announced at a press conference that the organization has secured a new naming rights sponsor for the multi-use stadium. Senator Robach attended, and provided remarks, at the press conference where the new name of the downtown stadium was announced. The home of the Rochester Rhinos, Western New York Flash, and Rochester Rattlers will be called Sahlen's Stadium. Senator Robach Meets UFC's Dana White

On Tuesday, March 15th, Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White was in Albany to meet with legislators and dicuss the rules and regulations of Mixed Martial Arts.

Section Five Football Hall of Fame Dedication

On Saturday, March 26th, I had the opportunity to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to dedicate the new Section Five Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is now located permanently at Sahlen's Stadium (formerly PAETEC Park) in downtown Rochester. Past student-athletes, contributors, administrators, and officials are honored in the hall. Section Five will induct the 2011 Hall of Fame Class at a ceremony next Thursday night, April 7th. Bike Zone Opens New Location in Greece

On Thursday, April 7th, Senator Robach made remarks during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Bike Zone location in Greece. Bike Zone is now located at 2100 Ridge Road West. Legislature Gives Approval for Niagara Falls Tightrope Walk

You might have seen this story on NBC's Today Show Wednesday morning, June 22nd regarding Nik Wallenda and his attempt to tightrope walk across the Niagara Gorge at Niagara Falls. The Legislature gave final approval earlier this afternoon.

New York lawmakers have voted to allow a member of the daredevil Wallenda family to attempt a tightrope walk across the Niagara Gorge at Niagara Falls.

The state Assembly on Wednesday passed a bill directing parks officials to write regulations allowing Nik Wallenda to traverse the gorge. The Senate already approved the measure.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo hasn't said yet whether he'll sign it.

Public Swimming Hours at Ontario Beack Park Extended

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks today announced that the hours for public swimming at Ontario Beach Park will be extended on Wednesday, July 20th, Thursday, July 21st and Friday, July 22nd, due to forecasted high temperatures.   On Wednesday, July 20th, Thursday, July 21st and Friday, July 22nd, Monroe County lifeguards will remain on duty and public swimming will be allowed to continue at Ontario Beach Park for one extra hour, until 8:00 p.m., so long as conditions and water quality are favorable. Normal hours of public swimming are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., daily through Labor Day. Swimming is only allowed at Ontario Beach Park when lifeguards are on duty.

Greece Scout Completing Work Towards Citizenship Badge

Earlier this week, Senator Robach met with Sean Hannon of Greece. Sean is a boy scout in Troop 48 (Greece Baptist Church). He is currently working on his Citizenship in the Community merit badge. We discussed tourism in our area and what can draw more people to Rochester. Best wishes to Sean as he continues through scouts.

Delta Expands Service Out of Rochester

Yesterday, I had the privilege to speak at a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony where Delta Airlines announced its new service from Rochester to New York City's LaGuardia Airport. The first flight took off at 2:03 p.m. yesterday, immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Rochester Special Hockey Tournament

Rochester, NY - This past weekend, I had the privilege to meet with hockey players and their families, and speak with participants during the Rochester Special Hockey Tournament at The Sports Center at MCC. Congratulations to all of the participants and a job well done and keep up the great work on and off the ice!
