I recently had the privilege of joining my colleagues in the State Legislature and Service-Connected Disabled Veterans at the NY Jobs for Heroes Program press conference. This program will create a state contract preference for service-connected disabled veteran owned small businesses in New York State. We are forever grateful for the service and sacrifice of our veterans, providing them with this opportunity is commonsense.
I had the privilege of joining the Rochester community in welcoming home Honor Flight Mission 33 yesterday afternoon. Welcoming home our veterans from an Honor Flight mission never gets old to me, as we give them the proper "thanks" for all that they have done for our nation. Many thanks to all of the volunteers, guardians and donor who make Honor Flight Rochester possible.
I was honored to join members of the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 20 at their annual dinner over the weekend. VVA Chapter 20 is one of the most active Vietnam-era veterans groups, with members who are passionate about helping fellow Vietnam veterans.
The Genesee Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. I was pleased to present the members with an official proclamation from the New York State Senate. Congratulations on 50 great years, Semper Fi!
State Senator Joe Robach is proud to announce the induction of John Foy, an active member in the Rochester veteran community, to the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 20. This honor is designed to pay tribute to New Yorkers whose gallantry in the U.S. Armed Forces is complimented by their service to the community and their accomplishments as a civilian.
On Memorial Day, I joined members of the Greece Post 468 American Legion at their remembrance ceremony. This was a moving tribute that paid homage to those who died in the name freedom and liberty. We're so fortunate to have a active and dedicated American Legion Post in the Town of Greece.
I joined my colleagues in government and the Greece community at the annual Town of Greece Memorial Day parade and ceremony. This is a great tradition that is attended by so many local veterans, organizations and residents. Thanks to all who participated in the parade and to everyone who came to the ceremony afterwards to honor all those who have died for our country.
