I recently joined officials from the City of Rochester and New York State to help break ground on the Stadium Estates Apartments. Located in the JOSANA Neighborhood near Sahlen's Stadium, this project consists of 45 rental units and will be supported by the Charles Settlement House. This is a great development for the JOSANA Neighborhood and the City of Rochester.
The Colonel Patrick O'Rorke Memorial Society recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the O'Rorke Bridge, connecting Charlotte to Irondequoit. Many thanks to Sherman Hardy and everyone who helped make this project a reality.
I was pleased to join Alternatives for Battered Women and the Rochester/Monroe County Domestic Violence Consortium to help kick-off National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a crime that rips families apart and can affect people of all social, racial and geographic backgrounds.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While great strides have been made in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, the fight against this deadly disease is far from over. I encourage all women to consult with their health care providers to learn more about the disease and develop an appropriate plan for breast cancer screening.
I am pleased to work with and support many local cancer research and advocacy organizations, including the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, and am truly humbled to have recently received the BCCR's Advocacy Spirit Award at their annual gala.

I was honored to join local law enforcement officials, the Badge Of Honor Association and members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Association of Retirees to help dedicate a road sign in honor of fallen Special Deputy Joseph Munz. In February 1932, Special Deputy Munz was struck by passing car while assisting at the scene of a crash near Clover Street and Highland Avenue. This memorial sign is located on Highland Avenue, near the intersection of Clover Street in the Town of Brighton.
I was honored to join my good friend Andre Marcel and the 103.9 WDKX family at the dedication of Andrew Langston Way at the Midtown Rising site in Downtown Rochester. Today, his legacy lives on through the work of Andre and everyone at WDKX and now, with the naming of this road in Downtown Rochester.
I was pleased to once again join members of the Greece Rotary Club to hand out dictionaries to the 3rd grade class at the Greece Christian School. This morning, I joined the Brockport Fire Department and the Brockport community for their annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony. It's hard to believe that this ruthless attack on American civilians happened 13 years ago today. Today, and every day, we remember those innocent people and all of the first responders who died that day.
The Brockport Fire Department is holding a day-long remembrance at Station #4 on North Main Street, I encourage you to stop by if you have the opportunity.
