Literacy Volunteers of Rochester Opens New Offices

On Friday, December 10th, 2010, Senator Robach attended a ceremony to mark the opening of Literacy Volunteers of Rochester's new location. Earlier this year, LVR moved their offices to 1600 South Avenue at Wolk Hall. The new offices give LVR the opportunity to expand programs and services. Senator Robach Speaks with Students at Northeast College Prep

On Thursday, December 9th, I spoke to 7th and 8th grade students at Northeast College Preparatory School in Rochester. The students, who are currently taking Participation in Government classes, heard about New York State government, my role as a New York State Senator, and how a bill becomes a law. Last Wednesday, December 1st, Senator Robach presented a New York State resolution to Wanda Kudaj, Nurse Manager at Jewish Home of Rochester. Spino Foundation Donates to Coats for Kids Drive

On Friday, December 3rd, Geri Spino, president of the Scott Spino Foundation Inc. donated 24 winter coats and 40 pairs of winter mittens as a part of Senator Robach's Coats for Kids Clothes Drive. County Executive's Holiday Senior Ball

On Wednesday, December 1st, Senator Robach attended, and make remarks at, the County Executive's Holiday Seniors Ball. Sponsored by the Monroe County Office for the Aging and teh Rochester Monroe County Youth Bureau, the event was held at the Double Tree Hotel. Senator Robach's "From One Closet to Another" Coats for Kids Clothes Drive

 

Happy Holidays! I am proud to announce my “From One Closet to Another” Coats for Kids Drive this holiday season. From now until December 17th, I will be collecting gently worn winter articles and will be donating them to the Greece Ecumenical Clothes Closet, who is in “great need” for winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and boots – all sizes in both boys and girls.

 

This is a great time to clean out your closet and provide gently worn articles to the less fortunate. If you have items you would like to donate, you can drop off clothing at either of the following locations:

El Camino Estates Opens in Rochester

On Tuesday, Senator Robach spoke at, and cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to mark the completion of the 25-unit, $7.3 million rental housing development, El Camino Estates. Currently home to 21 families, El Camino Estates is a new affordable housing community for low-income city residents.

Senator Robach Speaks with 3rd Graders at Buckman

On Friday, November 19th, Senator Robach spoke to 130 third graders at Buckman Elementary School in Greece. Students received a brochure containing facts about New York State, along with puzzles and games to help learn about the history of New York.

Brighton Veterans Memorial Kick-Off

On Sunday, November 14th, Senator Robach attended, and spoke at, a ceremony to announce a new Veterans memorial in Brighton. The memorial will be in Buckland Park, located on Westfall Road. Ground is expected to be broken in the spring, and the hope is to have the memorial ready by next summer.You can read more information about the memorial at www.townofbrighton.org. Senator Robach here is pictured with Mary Taylor, who is designing the memorial. The display in the middle is a miniature version of the top of the monument.

Rochester Vet Center Opens in Brighton

On Thursday, November 11th, I had the honor to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Rochester Vet Center, which opened in Brighton. The center, previously located in Rochester, is now located at 2000 S. Winton Road, across the street from the Jewish Home.
