On Thursday, April 7th, Senator Robach made remarks during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Bike Zone location in Greece. Bike Zone is now located at 2100 Ridge Road West. On Thursday, April 7th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to speak with a Town of Pittsford Supervisor Bill Carpenter's class at St. John Fisher College. During the class, I discussed redistricting and a bill I introduced in 2010, and re-introduced this year, bill s717. This bill would require legislative districts be determined without political motivation.
On Friday, April 8th, Senator Robach presented a proclamation to Greece resident Bill Selke to celebrate his 80th birthday. Bill is a part of many organizations throughout our community and I thank him for the great service he provides to our residents and businesses.

On Sunday, April 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend One Step Closer's Bowl-a-thon at Clover Lanes. Families took part in the event which raised money for the organization, which is dedicated for providing needy youth in the Rochester City Schools with a new pair of shoes for the new school year so they may start the year with pride. On Saturday, April 2nd, Senator Robach had the opportunity to attend a 'Help Us Help Japan' fundraising event at the Danforth Community Center in Rochester. The event was organized by Boy Scout Troop and Pack 169 and all donations and proceeds went to the Japan relief efforts. Scouts collected bottles and cans and also visited with the Jr. ROTC Drill Team.
The New York State Senate has completed passage of the 2011-12 state budget one day prior to the April 1st budget deadline. The budget, which has now received final approval by the Assembly, achieves the critically important goals of reducing state spending, not raising taxes and creating new private sector jobs.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet with a group from the Monroe County School Boards Association as we considered solutions to rising costs with fewer resources. Pictured with me is John Piper, Penfield School Board Member, and Jeff Crane, West Irondequoit Superintendent.
On Saturday, March 26th, I had the opportunity to speak at, and help cut the ribbon at, a ceremony to dedicate the new Section Five Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is now located permanently at Sahlen's Stadium (formerly PAETEC Park) in downtown Rochester. Past student-athletes, contributors, administrators, and officials are honored in the hall. Section Five will induct the 2011 Hall of Fame Class at a ceremony next Thursday night, April 7th.
