Senator Robach Honors Jodie Perry as Woman of Distinction

On Tuesday, May 25, Senator Robach honored Jodie Perry, president of the Greece Chamber of Commerce as a "Woman of Distinction". The "Woman of Distinction" program was created as part of the Senate's celebration of Women's History Month. In addition to recognizing present-day women, the Senate hosts a display in Albany that honors other distinguished women from New York's past, from leaders of the 19th Century suffragist movement to pioneers in education, science and the arts.

Young People Display Creative Genius at Invention Convention 2010

            Rochester, NY— On Saturday, May 15 from 12:30pm to 4pm, budding inventors will display models of their bright ideas for the Rochester Region–Finger Lakes judging of Invention Convention 2010.  The event will take place in the lobby of the Rochester Museum & Science Center Strasenburgh Planetarium, and the public is invited to meet the inventors and share the excitement. Admission is free.

Town of Greece Plans Arbor Day Tree Planting

Tree Planting will be in memory of Hunter Thomas Resch

Greece Supervisor John Auberger announced that plans are underway for the Town’s 2010 Arbor Day Tree Planting. This year a tree will be planted in memory of Hunter Thomas Resch, a 7 year old resident of the Town of Greece, who was a Cub Scout and attended Paddy Hill Elementary. Hunter was killed earlier this year in a tragic murder-suicide.

The tree planting will take place at the Greece Town Hall, 1 Vince Tofany Blvd., on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.

Senator Robach Supports Global Youth Services Day

On Friday, April 23rd, Senator Robach attended a Global Youth Service Day event in Rochester. Youth as Resources, a program of the Monroe County Youth Bureau, partnered with Youth Voice One Vision (YVOV) for Building Rochester-Monroe County from the Ground Up. This was a county-wide event focused on healthy living. The group visit...ed sites around the community and wrapped up their day with reflection, and a dinner and dance.

2010 Parkinson Canal 5K Run & Walk for a Cure Sunday

The Parkinson Canal Run Walk will be held at the Meridian Centre Park - 2025 Winton Rd South in Brighton on Sunday, April 18, 2010.

Proceeds from the Parkinson Canal Run Walk, the PSGUNY annual fundraising event, will again be used to fund research and find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease (PD). With our donations we support the University of Rochester (UR); the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF); and the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF).

Joshua Fidler is Troop 195's Newest Eagle Scout

On Sunday, April 11th, Joshua Fidler became the newest eagle scout for Boy Scout Troop 195, located in Greece. Joshua's Court of Honor and Banquet was held at St. Mark's Church. Senator Robach Rallies Behind R.I.T. Hockey

On Tuesday, April 6, the Rochester Insitute of Technology hosted a rally for the Tigers men's hockey team. R.I.T. will play in the NCAA Frozen Four for the first time at the division one level. Hilton Middle School Honored as 'School to Watch'

“Essential Elements School to Watch" designation for Merton Williams Middle School from NYS Education Department; national award ceremony June 24 in Washington, DC

Principal Carol Stehm of Hilton Central School District's Merton Williams Middle School has announced that the school was designated a 2010 Essential Elements School to Watch by the New York State Education Department's Schools to Watch Leadership Team. “This really is about our staff and the work they do everyday,” Principal Stehm said. “It’s the dedication to the students that truly makes us a school to watch.”
