The Greece Rotary Dictionary project took us to Lakeshore Elementary School in the Town of Greece yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the members of the Greece Rotary Club for partnering with me on this project, and to the enthusiastic students and teachers who make it so much fun!
I was honored to join local law enforcement officials, the Badge Of Honor Association and members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Association of Retirees to help dedicate a road sign in honor of fallen Special Deputy Joseph Munz. In February 1932, Special Deputy Munz was struck by passing car while assisting at the scene of a crash near Clover Street and Highland Avenue. This memorial sign is located on Highland Avenue, near the intersection of Clover Street in the Town of Brighton.
I was honored to join my good friend Andre Marcel and the 103.9 WDKX family at the dedication of Andrew Langston Way at the Midtown Rising site in Downtown Rochester. Mr. Langston was a visionary and pioneer, starting his own radio station to connect with the community. Today, his legacy lives on through the work of Andre and everyone at WDKX and now, with the naming of this road in Downtown Rochester.
I was pleased to once again join members of the Greece Rotary Club to hand out dictionaries to the 3rd grade class at the Greece Christian School. As a proud alum of the College at Brockport, I was excited to join President John Halstead and the SUNY Brockport community to cut the ribbon on the school's new Liberal Arts Building. This state of the art facility is the first new academic building at Brockport in 40 years, and will benefit all of the students at the college.

In response to the recent outrage of early-release parolees victimizing more people, both in the Rochester community and throughout New York State, I am sponsoring an online petition to send to the New York State Parole Board to stop the early release of violent felons.
This morning, I joined the Brockport Fire Department and the Brockport community for their annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony. It's hard to believe that this ruthless attack on American civilians happened 13 years ago today. Today, and every day, we remember those innocent people and all of the first responders who died that day.
The Brockport Fire Department is holding a day-long remembrance at Station #4 on North Main Street, I encourage you to stop by if you have the opportunity.
I was pleased to join Cancer Wellness Connections for its 7th annual Ovarian and Gynecologic Cancer 5k at MCC over the weekend. For more information on Cancer Wellness Connections, visit their website at www.cancerwellnessconnections.org.

Domestic Violence can affect anyone no matter what age, race, gender, religion, class or ethnicity. Throughout my tenure in the Senate, I have worked closely with advocates of domestic violence to strengthen New York’s laws to protect victims and punish perpetrator. Last year, two important bills that I sponsored became law (Chapter 480, Chapter 526). These new measures strengthened the guidelines surrounding the order of protection process and helped define economic and financial abuse in New York State. For more information on these new
I was pleased to join Mayor Warren, Superintendent Vargas and other City of Rochester and Rochester City School District Officials in celebrating the Grand Re-Opening of John Williams School #5. This transformation and remodeling will provide a better learning environment for School #5 students and teachers, all in a state of the art facility. Congratulations and welcome back John Williams School #5!
Every summer the City of Rochester, Monroe County and RochesterWorks collaborate for the Summer of Opportunity Employment Program. This program provides summer employment for over 800 area youth, giving them hands-on learning experience and on the job training. I have been pleased to continually support the Summer of Opportunity Program by securing $300,000 in state aid to help fund the program. Many thanks to the City of Rochester, Monroe County, RochesterWorks and all of the organizations who participate every year!
It's (almost) that time of the year again, back to school! I recently joined 103.9 WDKX and officials from the City of Rochester and the Rochester City School District for a Back to School rally. This was a great event, with tons of helpful information and even some free school supplies for parents and students as they get ready to start a new school year. Many thanks to WDKX for hosting this rally and for all that they do in our community.
I recently joined area seniors at Ontario Beach Park for the annual Salute to Seniors program. This great event brings seniors from throughout the community together for food, music and dancing. I hope everyone had an enjoyable day at Ontario Beach Park!
