Boys and Girls Club Pizza Throwdown

Earlier this morning, I had the privilege to be a guest judge at the Boys and Girls Clubs Pizza Throwdown. The event was held at UNO Chicago Grill in Henrietta. The competition featured youth from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester against UNO's own pizza chefs to see who makes the best deep dish pizza.

GOVERNOR CUOMO UNVEILS PLANS TO MODERNIZE AND REBUILD I-390 INTERCHANGE IN ROCHESTER

$26 Million Included in Executive Budget for First Phases of Project

 

 

 

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today unveiled new plans to modernize and rebuild the I-390 Interchange in Rochester. The project will create a gateway to the University of Rochester, enabling campus expansion and job growth. The Governor included $26 million in his 2012-2013 Executive Budget to support the first two phases of the project.

 

The project will improve accessibility to the University of Rochester, Monroe Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology campuses, leading to thousands of new jobs in the local economy generated by university growth. Approximately 630 construction jobs will also be created.

Senate Passes School Bus Safety Bills

Bills intended to make riding bus safer for students, enhance communication, and make “school bus” signs more economical

 

The New York State Senate yesterday passed a series school bus bills that will ensure child safety and enhanced communication.

 

A bill was passed, sponsored by Senator John Bonacic, that increases the penalties for passing a stopped school bus (S.3099A). The legislation would impose a sixty day suspension of a driver’s license if convicted of passing a stopped school bus two or more times.

This legislation would make the penalties for passing a stopped school bus multiple times the same as penalties for drivers convicted of speeding in a construction zone two or more times.

New York State Celebrates Giants’ Super Bowl Victory with Championship License Plate

Super Bowl XLVI Plate Commemorates Victory

 

 

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI victory license plate to honor the championship team.

 

The plate, available for both passenger and commercial vehicles registered in New York, features the NFL Giants' Big Blue NY logo with the words "Super Bowl XLVI Champions" as well as the official Super Bowl XLVI logo. Senator Robach Introduces Bill to Protect Kodak Retiree Health Care

Legislation would provide safety net in the event retiree health benefits are eliminated

Eastman Kodak’s filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month has prompted much uncertainty for employees and retirees of the company. To try to mitigate these fears, Senator Robach joined with Assemblyman Reilich and Brighton Securities last week to host an informational forum which addressed potential implications Kodak’s bankruptcy may have on employees, retirees, vendors and local municipalities.  The one concern heard over again, which there was no clear answer to, was the potential fate of health benefits for retirees.

Senate Passes DNA Databank Expansion Bill

Bill Would Enact Governor’s Proposal To Include Misdemeanors

 

The New York State Senate today passed legislation, sponsored by Senator Steve Saland (R-I-C, Poughkeepsie) and Senator Martin Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), for the largest expansion of the state’s DNA databank since it was created in 1994. The legislation mirrors the databank expansion plan proposed by Governor Cuomo in his Executive Budget to require people convicted of all felonies, as well as all misdemeanors in the penal law to submit DNA samples.
