Burke & Bannayan Jewelers Opens New Location

On Thursday night, January 26th, I had the privilege to attend, and speak at, a grand opening ceremony for Burke & Bannayan Jewelers in Greece. They recently moved to their new location, 2465 West Ridge Road, which is behind Canandaigua National Bank and Trust. Best wishes to Vic, his family, and his entire staff on continued success.

SENATE PASSES LEGISLATION TO CREATE FELONY CHARGES FOR WRONG-WAY AND RECKLESS DRIVERS

The New York State Senate today passed legislation, sponsored by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), to create felony charges for wrong-way and other reckless drivers.

 

“Wrong-way drivers have caused tragedies and endangered lives on our roadways; it has to stop. Creating felony charges for wrong-way and reckless drivers will give law enforcement another tool to prosecute these individuals and get them off the roads,” said Senator Fuschillo, Chairman of the Senate’s Transportation Committee.

SENATE PASSES BILL TO TOUGHEN LAWS FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

 

The New York State Senate today passed legislation that creates new penalties for individuals supervising another driver while also under the influence of drugs or alcohol, also known as Abbagail’s Law (S.164C). The bill, sponsored by Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane), is named after eight-year-old Abbagail Buzard, who died in a car accident caused by an inexperienced driver who was supervised by a parent under the influence of alcohol.

Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning Receives Funding to Support Testing

The Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning (CPLP) recently announced a $21,000 grant from the Monroe Plan for Medical Care is supporting bi-monthly lead testing events at the Jordan Health Link, 273 Upper Falls Blvd.

Senate Confirms Gil Quiniones as President/CEO of NYPA

On Monday, January 9th, the New York State Senate unanimously confirmed Gil Quiniones as President and CEO of the New York Power Authority.

Quiniones previously served as acting president and CEO of the New York Power Authority, the nation's largest state electric utility. He was the chief operating officer since June 2008.
