East High School Girls Basketball Team Honored In Albany

On Wednesday, April 18th, I had the privlege to welcome the East High Girls Basketball Team to Albany as my guests for the day. East became the first Rochester City School District team to win a New York State Championship in Girls Basketball. The team was given a tour of the capital, and was in attendance for session. At the start of session, the New York State Legislature adopted a resolution honoring the achievements of the team this season, both on and off the court. The Bop Shop Relocates to Brighton

Rochester, NY - On Sunday, April 15th, Senator Robach was a guest at the grand opening celebration for The Bop Shop. It recently relocated from Village Gate to 1460 Monroe Avenue in Brighton. March Against Violence

Recently, I had the privilege to take part in the March Against Violence. The march was organized by Bridges to Wellness, which is a community health initiative in northeast Rochester that engages residents to bring about positive changes to their community. The march was put on by Bonita Blocker, whose brother was murdered and Jesse Knoth, who is the reisdent organizer/youth coordinator for Bridges to Wellness.

Senator Robach Announces New York State Scholarship Program

Senator Joe Robach announced today that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is now accepting applications for four $1,500 scholarships to be awarded June 4th  at their Annual Legislative Conference Day.  Scholarship winners must be present to receive their awards.

 

“These scholarships will hopefully alleviate some of the burden of affording a higher education,” says Senator Robach.

2012-2013 New York State Budget

2012-13 State Budget Reduces Spending, Does Not Raise Taxes, Creates Jobs

For the second consecutive year, the New York State Senate has completed an early passage of the state budget. The 2012-13 state budget achieves the Senate Republicans’ goals of reducing state spending, not raising taxes and creating new private sector jobs. The new state fiscal year begins April 1st.

STATE SPENDING GROWTH HELD UNDER TWO PERCENT

 

> The $132.6 billion spending plan limits all-funds spending growth to 1.9 percent. For the second year in a row, state spending growth is less than the two percent spending cap advocated by Senate Republicans and placed on local government and school budgets.
