GM Welcomes Community To Holdings Plant for Open House

On Wednesday, October 5th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to attend an open house at the General Motors Holdings Plant on Lexington Avenue in Rochester. The open house was a way to say thank you to our community for the support that the company has received. Thousands of people took advantage of the open house to see many of the products made right here in our back yard. It was great to meet so many of the employees and see the members of our community who came out to support this open house.

Commemorating National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

On Wednesday, October 5th, Senator Robach had the privilege to attend a press conference in commemoration of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The press conference, hosted by Alternatives for Battered Women, was held at the Crime Victims' Resource Center, in Rochester. I have been happy to work with advocates, law enforcement, and victims to sponsor legislation, which has strengthened domestic violence laws. D4 Celebrates Move to New Location

On Thursday, September 29th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to attend, and speak at, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for D4, LLC, a leading provider of eDiscovery, Computer Forensics and Litigation Support Services for Law Firms and Corporations. They recently moved to 222 Andrews Street in Rochester.

 

D4 invested 1.6 million dollars in the renovation of the building and installation of a high security Data Center with assistance from a number of state and local agencies.

 

The move allows for continued growth and expansion for D4, as the company plans to hire additional employees this year and into 2012. D4 has 8 offices around the country and is looking to add additional locations in 2012. For more information visit http://www.d4discovery.com/.

Tops Re-Opens Hilton Store

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit with employees and customers at the newest Tops Friendly Market store in Hilton. The Hilton location is the 15th store in Monroe County and the 133rd store in the company’s New York/Pennsylvania market.

 

Shoppers at the Hilton Tops will see immediate changes in the 27,000 square-foot location such as exterior signage, aisle signs, the addition of Tim Horton’s kiosk and increased product variety, including Tops brand products.

 

More renovations are on the way to the store, which are expected to begin in early January and be completed in the spring.

 

There are approximately 32 full-time and 50 part-time associates at the Hilton location.

3rd Graders at Quest Elementary School Show Off New Dictionaries

On Wednesday, September 21st, Senator Robach joined members of the Greece and Hilton Rotary Clubs to present new dictionaries to third grade students at Quest Elementary School in Hilton. The dictionary project promotes comprehension and literacy and instills at a young age the fun and importance of reading. Dictionaries are presented to 3rd grade students in the Hilton and Greece school districts.

Bank of Castile Celebrates 5th Anniversary at Greece Location

On Tuesday night, September 20th, Senator Robach had the privilege to speak at Bank of Castile's 5th Anniversary celebration. Bank of Castile is located on Long Pond Road in Greece, next to the YMCA. 3rd Graders at Longridge Elementary School Receive Dictionaries

On Tuesday, September 20th, Senator Robach had the privilege to visit with 3rd grade students at Longridge Elementary School in Greece to distribute new dictionaries for the 3rd graders to use this year. Senator Robach was also joined by the new superintendent of the Greece Central School District, Barbara Deane-Williams. The dictionary distribution project continues through next week at schools in both the Greece and Hilton School Districts.

Annex The Mills at High Falls Ribbon Cutting

On Monday, September 19th, Senator Robach spoke at, and took part in, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Annex The Mills at High Falls. Construction on the project started in April 2010, and was completed in July. The total cost of the project was $7.5 million. The buildings, located on State Street in downtown Rochester are anticipated to be fully occupied by the end of this year. 2011 Greentopia Festival

On Saturday, September 17th, Senator Robach had the honor to help kick-off the inaugural Greentopia Festival at High Falls in downtown Rochester. Businesses and organizations showcased products and programs that help restore the planet, promote green living – even save consumers some money. Greentopia is a festival of ideas that empowers everybody to create positive change on the planet we call home. Holy Cross Re-Opening Mass Celebration

On Friday, September 16th, Senator Robach had the privilege to join Bishop Matthew Clark of the Diocese of Rochester for the re-opening mass at Holy Cross in Charlotte. The school closed in 2008, but re-opened this September, welcoming back students in grades K through 6. I wish all the best to the students and staff of Holy Cross for a successful school year. Holy Cross is where Senator Robach attended grammar school.

9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies Around Our Community

On Sunday, September 11th, Senator Robach had the privilege to attend a number of September 11th remembrance ceremonies around my district to mark the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. These photos come from ceremonies at Lakeshore Community Church, Our Mother of Sorrows Church, and Greece Assembly of God. It was honor to be with so many members of our Fire Departments, Police Departments, First Responders, and Emergency Medical Technicians. All of the ceremonies were extremely moving and very well done. 10 years ago, terrorists tried to divide us, but they have only made us more unified than ever. They tried to confuse us, but now we see as clear as we ever had.

Mildred Johnson Estates Phase II Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, September 9th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to attend, and speak at, the Mildred Johnson Estates Phase II ribbon cutting ceremony. The event celebrated the new construction of 21 3-bedroom, single family homes on formerly vacant lots owned by the City of Rochester. Phase II is modeled on the success of Mildred Johnson Estates Phase I, which included 23 single family homes and was completed in 2008. All of the 21 new homes will be affordable to families earning 50% or less of the area median income. Together, Phase I and Phase II represent a 10 million dollar investment in the neighborhood.

Holy Cross Re-Opens With Flag Raising Ceremony

On Friday, September 9th, Senator Robach had the privilege to visit with students, their families, and staff at his old grammar school, Holy Cross. The school, which re-opened to students this year held a kick-off event to being the new school year. As a part of the ceremony, the school invited local official, and police, fire, and EMS personnel for a flag raising to remember all those who lost their lives 10 years ago in the terrorist attacks of 2001.
