Town of Gates 200th Birthday Celebration

This past weekend, the Town of Gates celebrated its 200th Birthday with a bang! It started with a parade from Gates Town Hall to Gates-Chili High School. The celebration continued with performances by the Jig's Up String Band, Keys to the Caddy and the infamous Lou Gramm Band. 

The Town of Gates was incorporated on April 1, 1813, making it one of the oldest towns in Monroe County.

11th Annual Rochester Juneteenth Celebration

Last weekend, I joined 1,000 fellow Rochester residents at Susan B. Anthony Square to celebrate the 11th annual local Juneteenth Celebration. Juneteenth is the celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation went into effect on Jan. 1, 1863, but it wasn’t until June 19, 1865, that slaves in Galveston, Texas, got word that the Civil War had ended and all the enslaved were free.

5th Annual Rochester Hope for Pets Benefit Dog Walk

I was privileged to kick off the Hope for Pets Walk last weekend at Highland Park. Rochester Hope for Pets assists pets whose owners are facing financial hardships. 2013 CURE Picnic

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in the 10th Annual CURE Chilhood Cancer Survivors Day Picnic. This year the event was held at Genesee Valley Park. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. I am greatful for being part of such an inspirational event.

Both Paul and Gladys have dedicated much of their lives to education and helping individuals within the Rochester City School District. Today, I had the opportunity to join hundreds of participants and their families at the 2013 Monroe County Special Olympics Track and Field Games at Lebeau Field at Hilton High School. I would like to thank Hilton Central School District for hosting the event. A special thank you to those who have been involved in making this year's Special Olympics such a huge success! Annual Program Honors Veteran’s Contributions to Our Community

 

State Senator Joe Robach announces the induction of Ray Melens, an active member in the Rochester veteran community, to the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame on Tuesday May 21st. This honor is designed to pay tribute to New Yorkers whose gallantry in the U.S. Armed Forces is complimented by their service to the community and their accomplishments as a civilian.
