Senate Approves Mixed Martial Arts Legislation

 The New York State Senate today passed legislation to legalize and regulate mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions in New York State. The bill (S.2755), sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo (R-C-I, Rome), would allow single discipline martial arts organizations to hold professional competitions in New York State and gives the state Athletic Commission the jurisdiction to regulate professional mixed martial arts promotions, participants, bouts and exhibitions.

GRIFFO APPLAUDS DELAY OF NEW AREA CODE

315 HERE TO STAY FOR ALL RESIDENTS UNTIL AT LEAST 2016

UTICA – The state Public Service Commission has tabled its proposal to split the 315 area code until at least the third quarter of 2016, state Sen. Joseph A. Griffo announced today.

“People in my district spoke loudly and with one united voice: Splitting our 315 area code or adding new numbers from our region to a different area code would be a major inconvenience,” said Griffo, R-Rome. “The Commission heard that input, and I’m pleased it recognizes that such a change would be a potential safety and security hazard, as well as a financial blow to affected businesses.”

Every day the two despicable inmates from the Dannemora prison facility were on the run brought yet another day of fears that the worst was yet to come from these violent and desperate individuals. Yet, more than three weeks later, it is with great relief and satisfaction that the bitter fates of these two escaped prisoners brought no further bloodshed than their own.
