SENATOR GRIFFO TO PARTICIPATE IN NEW YORK RISING STORM RECOVERY CONFERENCE

(Utica)- State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-C-IP, Rome) today confirmed that he will be participating in Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York Rising Storm Recovery Conference this Thursday in Albany. Last week, Griffo was joined by fellow Senators James Seward, Hugh Farley and David Valesky in asking President Obama, FEMA, and federal officials for greater consideration in helping the residents of central New York and the Mohawk Valley who had been devastated by the catastrophic flooding.

Griffo announces $8.5 million for Rome

Empire State Development grant will extend water, sewer to residents, businesses

ROME – Sen. Joseph A. Griffo today announced that the state is providing $8.5 million to the City of Rome for a major water-sewer improvement project.

The funds, which come from Empire State Development’s Economic Transformation Program, are for a two-phase project in the north, west and south corridors of Rome.

UTICA – The New York State Senate has passed four bills aimed at improving response and providing relief to Mohawk Valley residents negatively impacted by flooding.

GRIFFO, BRINDISI ANNOUNCE $40M FOR WINTER WEATHER RECOVERY

ALBANY – The 2014-15 state budget includes a new, one-time $40 million fund for the benefit of highway departments repairing roads damaged by extreme winter weather, Sen. Joseph A. Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi announced.

“Forty-five percent of our major roads and highways in this state are in poor or mediocre condition, which costs New York motorists dearly. We’re collectively paying $4.9 billion more than we have to every year on repairs required because of shoddy roads,” said Griffo, R-Rome. “This winter’s deep freeze just exacerbated this, which is why the assemblyman and I called for relief.”

Griffo To Host Forum on Animal Abuse

UTICA – State Senator Joseph A. Griffo is hosting an educational forum May 27 for the benefit of police officers in Oneida County who handle incidents of animal abuse and neglect.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara and Susan McDonough, a retired New York State Police investigator who specialized in animal abuse, will lead the informational sessions. They will discuss ways to identify animal abuse and neglect; how to approach abused animals; how to remove animals from an abusive household and how to ensure a successful prosecution of individuals who abuse animals.
