Griffo Says Taxpayer-Funded Teen Orgy at State Youth Facility Calls for Resignation of OCFS Commissioner
Senator also wants proposed closure of Annsville Residential OCFS Center halted until Investigation concludes
(Albany) - State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R- IP-C, Rome) today said that a shocking lack of oversight and management in allowing a state taxpayer-funded orgy to take place during a dance at a youth facility that houses killers and other violent criminals, is enough reason for Commissioner Gladys Carrion to resign from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

UTICA – Sen. Joseph A. Griffo today reiterated his opposition to state prisoners receiving “extreme amenities,” which includes Gov. Cuomo’s proposal to use state funds to educate prisoners at no cost to the recipient.
“Prison is supposed to be a punishment for wrongdoing, not a Club Med where your family can visit anytime and your health issues and education are taken care of at zero cost,” said Griffo, R-Rome. “I have opposed measures that provide perks to prisoners – some of which ordinary New Yorkers don’t even receive – and will continue to do so in the future.”
Senator Griffo discusses his recently-passed legislation on low-volume roads and violent felony offenders, before introducing Jason Robinson. Robinson, 11, is a very inspiring 11-year-old boy. Born with a rare form of spina bifida, he was the youngest person to ever finish the 15-kilometer Boilermaker Road Race.

Senator concerned about staff safety in light of recent riot
UTICA – Sen. Joseph A. Griffo wrote today to the state Office of Mental Health regarding the Sept. 3 riot at the Central New York Psych Center in Marcy that left 12 staff members injured.
The senator asked Commissioner Anne Marie T. Sullivan what her office was doing to better ensure the safety of staff in light of this incident and questioned whether the offending inmates could be transferred to state prison.
“If these inmates are mentally capable of planning and executing a coordinated attack on officers at a predetermined time, is it appropriate for them to be in the Psychiatric Center at all?” Griffo asked.
