Queens, NY, August 29, 2012NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., is co-sponsoring a lecture series, “Changes to EPIC,” with a representative from the NYS Department of Health’s Medicare-EPIC Program, Gema Diaz. The ongoing series will continue to run in September and October at various senior centers or AARP chapters in the senator’s district and covers the changes to New York’s Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) prescription-drug program, now that the 2012-13 state budget restored $30.6 million.

I commend all of our precincts for the work that they do ensuring our safety with the limited resources they have. I also am grateful for all the volunteers who make up our auxiliary police force, explorers, and precinct councils for their hours dedicated to the security concerns of our residents.

Queens, NY, August 6, 2012 -- Yesterday’s tragic shooting in Wisconsin reminds us again that illegal and criminal gun violence poses a serious threat to communities across the country, and cannot be tolerated.  When innocent people going about their daily lives, such as going to the movies, playing in a park or praying at a religious site, are fatal victims to brutal crimes, action must be taken.

I commend the NYPD and Resorts World for working collaboratively to identify and apprehend the suspect relating to the June 29, 2012 robbery at the casino. With the appropriate security measures in place, I am fully confident that Resorts World is entirely safe for all of its guests, and I thank its personnel for the rapid response to this incident. I believe that the safety and security of the visitors to Resorts World is their highest priority will remain so.
